Playing in Paradise Challenge 21: Christmas in June!

This week's Playing in Paradise challenge at the Scrapbooker's Paradise blog is Christmas in June!

I used a wintery patterned paper to create mine:

A sewn border and lots of bling! I especially love the Bo Bunny brad I added to the snowman's hat. My Martha Stewart snowflake punch made the snowflakes a cinch!! I used my Sakura Stardust gel pen over the stamped sentiment and snowman's eyes to add sparkle.

Be sure to check out the DT member projects as well!

This week's prize is a pkg of rub-ons and layered chipboard from the Bo Bunny Time Piece Collection!

Teacher Gift

This is the first thing that I tried to get published in PaperCrafts Magazine. It was for the Holiday Gifts issue and then the Nov/Dec issue. It didn't make it but I forgot to post about it until now.

It's a gift I made for my son's Kindergarten teacher. I gave it to her along with this card.

I'm still really proud of this. I cut out every one of those leaves by hand, obviously. ;) The acorns were clear embossed and cut out as well.

Here is the back:

The felt die-cut hides the staples I used to affix a piece of twill ribbon between the back of the project and the stand.

PTI MIM: Rock and Roll Technique

This week's Papertrey Ink Make it Monday is using the rock and roll technique. I hadn't tried double-inking in some time but love the effect of this technique!

I decided to use this technique for a birthday card I needed to make using one of Nichole's favorite color combinations (I also used this week's Scrapbooker's Paradise challenge).

For instructions and supplies, please see this post (the only addition is the clear rhinestones that I colored with Copic BG75).

Playing in Paradise Challenge 20

Sorry this is up a bit late... Blogger issues!!

It's time for another challenge over at the Scrapbooker's Paradise blog!

This week, Carla has limited our supplies to 3 items:

Easy-peasy!!

(Sorry about the quality of this photo... I had to use a compressed version due to Blogger issues!)

I had planned on selling this Martha Stewart punch even though this is one of the few I keep using... Guess it's here to stay!

After punching the border of the rustic cream cardstock, I inked the edges with Antique Linen and Old Paper Tim Holtz Distress Ink and ink blending foam (Distress Inks are on sale at Scrapbooker's Paradise from June 16-30!). The panel above is just plain cream cardstock that I stamped with flourish-y leaves in Memento New Sprout ink. I stamped my sentiment using Versamagic Jumbo Java ink and used a double-inking technique for the stamped flowers.

Be sure to check out the other DT projects!

The deadline to enter your project is noon on Thursday, June 23rd. This week's prize is Bo Bunny Timepiece 6x6 paper pad, clear stamp, dimensional sticker.

CAS-ual Fridays Tic-Tac-Toe and Lawnscaping CAS

This week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge is a fun little game of Tic-Tac-Toe!

I used this challenge to FINALLY get my friend's wedding card done. It's late, but it would have been late no matter what since it has to go all the way to Japan.

I chose the middle column: gems, dies/punches and flowers. I tried to get the card to flow with the theme of her invitation.

The card base is made with the exterior sheet sent with the invitation; a beautifully textured paper. I had to reinforce the inside a bit since it was rather flimsy.

The leaves are from PTI's Turning a New Leaf die. I inked the edges a bit with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink. The flowers are die cut from PTI's Beautiful Blooms #1. To add some interest on the white blooms, I stamped some flowers from Sending You with Versamark and heat embossed with clear powder. It gives it a fun shimmery effect, which you can see better here:

For the sentiment panel, I die cut and stamped Fillable Frames #4 in Versamagic Pixie Dust ink. The sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages and stamped in Memento New Sprout.

The current Lawnscaping challenge is all about CAS cards and so I'll be submitting this there as well. I love CAS challenges! Maybe I'll try again... with some Lawn Fawn stamps this time! ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Playing in Paradise 19: Purse Inspiration

Welcome to another challenge at the Scrapbooker's Paradise blog!

Allison has created the most fabulous inspiration for us!

I had a hard time deciding which purse to base my creation on! Perhaps I will come back and use this again. ;)

I loved the simplicity of the orange purse and recreated it here.

After impressing the front of my card base with a linen texture, I used an edger die to create a flap. I die cut a Spellbinders Butterflies Two die out of kraft and then impressed the woodgrain. I used my Versamagic Jumbo Java dewdrop to lightly ink the ridges. I pierced the butterfly to add a cross-stitch to the center. I just keep white embroidery floss on hand and color it with a co-ordinating Copic marker, in this case YR15. After adhering the butterfly with some dimensional adhesive, I rounded the corners at the bottom of the card base with my Corner Chomper and stamped my sentiment in Memento Rich Cocoa.

Be sure to check out the other DT projects!
