Faith - My Last DT Inspiration for Christmas Card Challenges

Hello everyone!

It's time to post my DT inspirational card for the last time. My six months of designing a weekly Christmas card for Christmas Card Challenges has come to an end. The challenge for this week is to design a card using "Faith" as the theme. Designing a card based on the whole reason we celebrate Christmas is very special. I decided to go with mostly cream with a touch of gold and green.

This card is made entirely with scraps and I'm very happy with the outcome.

Dies for this project were Spellbinder's Fleur de Lis Squares and Circles, as well as Sprig With Berries by Elizabeth Craft Designs Dies. The stamp is an old JustRite stamp that I think is no longer available. The 1/4" organza ribbon in olive and pale gold work out wonderfully with the colours. I wondered about putting jingle bells on the card, but the card needed a little more gold than just the gold embossing, and they are thought of a part of Christmas.

The following photos are just different views of the 5 1/2" square card to show the layers and how it was constructed. I wanted to make a card box to go with it, but I didn't have the time. If I still get to it before Christmas, I'll post it and link it to this posting.

Thank you so much for checking in on me today and having a look at this week's challenge design. Stop by the Christmas Card Challenges blog to view this week's design team inspiration, or click below to visit their blog.

Bling For Christmas - DT CCC#51

This week's challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges #51 is to use 'bling' on our cards. I have to share a short story about the making of this card.

I had just cleared off my work surface to prepare in the making of this card and threw away a few strips of white cardstock leftovers. For some reason there was a constant thought that I should pull out those strips and use them. I told myself that it was silly, but after not being able to get rid of the thought I went and hauled them out.

I was thinking how much I love white on white and perhaps raised stripes would look great. So maybe testing it would be a good idea, so I created a tag. I loved the look and decided to use the tag on the card! With a few more steps, this is the end result. I ended up adding Star Dust Stickles to the strips to make them pop a bit more and contribute to the 'sparkle & bling' factor of the challenge.

I used gold embossing powder to accent the blues and used gold ribbon at the top of the tag as well. Here are some photos showing the layers of this card.

Hope that you are inspired to join this week's 'sparkle & bling' challenge at Christmas Card Challenges, or enter any Christmas card creation you'd like. To check out the other design team creations and details you can go to their blogs listed below.

Sketch For Christmas Card Challenges #50

Being busy and pressed for time, I decided to take the easy way for the sketch challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges this week and use some premade embellishments (layered stickers) that coordinate with the Echo Park "Tis the Season" 6 x 6 pad.

The sketch to the left is what is used for the challenge, but as long as you make a Christmas card you don't have to use it. I was able to put this card together in just minutes!

Working with the Christmas pattern chalkboard paper was fun, and set against the red, it works well.

Here are some more photos showing some of the layers.

Hope your Christmas card making is going well. And if you'd like some inspiration, hop on over the Christmas Card Challenges and see what the design team has created. Check out the challenge submissions too.

Christmas Dimensionals - DT Christmas Card Challenges #49

Having such a very busy week, you'd think I'd have posts this week to show for it! Sorry not yet, but it is time for another Christmas Card Challenge. This week's challenge is to use dimensionals, or pop-dots as some people like to call them. Are you lol? I know I'm chuckling a bit, because it is more of a challenge for me to NOT use dimensionals!

I have a card for you today that didn't use any designer paper. I'll give a few details later. For now here is the card.

I used a script text background stamp and a holly & berries background stamp on the white cardstock matted in red. The ribbons were then wrapped around this piece before popping it up with dimensionals. The layers of squares are all Spellbinder's dies, the centers of which are all die cut out. In that space I used an older JustRite square Christmas stamp in black ink, after which I used dimensionals to layer and pop up the different squares.
In this next photo you can see the center stamp better and also see that I used green, red, & gold Stickles on the tree, while using Star Dust Stickles on the stamp edge of the stamped image as well as on the white scalloped Spellbinder's square.

You might be able to see the layers better in the next two photos.

Glad that you stopped by to have a look at this week's challenge card using dimensionals. Be sure to have a peek at the DT members inspirational cards too.

Christmas Bow - DT Christmas Card Challenges #48

Hope that everyone had a good week. It's time for the next Christmas Card Challenge! This week's challenge is to use "Bows" on your card. Of course you don't have to use bows to enter a card as long as it is a Christmas card.

I'm only using one photo for this post because you'll be seeing this card again for a class along with some others posted for Christmas Card Challenges.

You can see some glitter around the edge of the Graphic 45 12 Days of Christmas paper. I placed 1/8" Scor Tape around the edge and then covered it and rubbed in Snow Glitter to make it all sparkle. The image, also from 12 Days of Christmas, is double matted and Star Dust Stickles have been applied around the pink mat edge. I also added Star Dust Stickles to the sleeves, bodice lace, and hem lace of the woman's dress.
The berries on the little holly fussy cut piece, I applied Glossy Accents to make them pop and shine.

In order to fit the elaborate bow tucked under, I had to triple stack the foam dimensionals. The bow with lace was created using the Mini-Bowdabra. Love that little tool! I then used some more Star Dust Stickles with a light and gentle touch on the lace and ribbon.

So that's it for this card. Now hop on over to Christmas Card Challenges and see the DT inspirational creations and join in on the fun.

Flowers for Christmas - CCC #47

Hello everyone! I can't believe how this week just flew by! Time for another fun challenge at Christmas Card Challenges! This weeks challenge is "Flowers". And what better paper for a Christmas card with flowers could there than using Graphic 45's "12 Days of Christmas" collection for  challenge #47.

Even though this gorgeous paper is a Christmas paper, with the roses on it, one has to look to see the holly and berries that make it so. For that reason I decided to use the Elizabeth Craft Designs "Sprig with Berries" die in three different greens. Adding the Star Dust Stickles, also helped to give it a bit more of a Christmas feel.

The sentiment is from the Hot Off The Press "Christmas" stamp & punch set, and is heat embossed in gold, later adding tiny drops of Xmas Red Stickles.

Here is the card from different angles. I must apologize, however, for not having edged the the fussy cut flower pieces. I usually like to do that to hide the white core of the paper, but due to time constraints, I didn't do that this time round.

You will be seeing this card again posted with some others as this will also be one of the cards for a future class at Scrapbook Parade. But, for now, hop on over to the Christmas Card Challenges blog to see the DT inspirational cards posted there and the entries. Remember, you don't have to play along with the challenge as long as you post a Christmas card.

Snowflake Wreath - Color Combo for CCC #46

Sorry I didn't get this posted this morning at the start of the new challenge. I've had a very busy couple of weeks and taught two classes yesterday, had to get off early to church this morning, and celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving with my parents the rest of the day even though it really isn't till tomorrow. I have work to do tomorrow so we celebrated it today. So here it is nearly the end of the day!

My first thought and idea for this week's Pink, Brown & White Christmas Card Challenge was something very different from what I decided to make in the end. I was going to go soft with mostly white and a bit of pink with a very little touch of brown. Then I thought, "Why not try something different for a change? Go outside your comfort zone Sabrina." So I did, and went with a very dark brown and a deep and bright pink, with touches of a lighter pink, and white of course.

Starting with a white pencil crayon  made my faux stitched border. Then taking some older cling stamps I stamped them in white all over the brown. Next, I die cut and punched out some snowflakes in the deeper bright pink, in softer light pink, and in white.

I then put some of them through my 1 1/2" Xyron sticker maker and pulled out some light pink, deeper bright pink, and some white Chrystal glitter. I applied these to some of the snowflakes leaving some without glitter. The next step was to pop up and create a wreath using some of those snowflakes.

I think that next time I do this, I would use fewer snowflakes so that you could more easily see the individual snowflakes, rather than bunching them up so tightly.

Here are some other views of the card.

Check out what the rest of the design team created for a Christmas card using the challenge colours of Pink, Brown & White.

Lights! Inspirational Photo - Christmas Card Challenge #45

Time for an inspirational photo over at Christmas Card Challenge #45 and it's all about Christmas lights! It's also a new month which means it's prize time this week. One lucky winner will receive a free rubber stamp from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps this week. For my followers, you'll be surprised to note that I didn't use a single foam dimensional/pop-dot on this card!

I used my Spectrum Noir markers and then Diamond Stickles to make the ligtbulbs sparkle. A very basic and simple card.

I guess since this is a photo inspired challenge, I should show you the photo, right! It's to the left.

Anything Goes! - DT Christmas Card Challenge #44

This week at Christmas Card Challenges we have "Anything Goes"! Since I'm pretty busy these days, I thought I would make a card that I could use for the Christmas Club classes I teach. This one would be one of the cards for the November class. So you will see it again with a couple of other cards when I post it for the class. In the meantime, here is the card and some details.

I'm using two new dies (new to me) on this card, from Elizabeth Craft Designs - Pinecone and Sprig with Berries. Just love the look. And, since it's for Christmas I added Star Dust Stickles to the pincones, the heat embossed sentiment, and the two different Martha Stewart snowflakes.

The red & white gingham ribbon I used was very white, and I wanted it to go better with the Graphic 45 12 Days of Christmas 6 x 6 paper. So, I took Tim Holtz's Scattered Straw ink pad and using the lid to press the ribbon into the pad, I slowly pulled the ribbon from under it. This gave it the yellowed aged look I wanted to match the paper better.

To make the bow for this card I used the Mini-Bowdabra (great tool!) leaving long tails to twist and manipulate on the card.

Here are some more photos form different views to have a better look at the layering.

Well that's it for this card. Why not have a peek at the other DT creations for Challenge #44 and join in on the "Anything Goes" fun.

Sparkly Star - DT Christmas Card Challenge #43 Sketch

Earlier today I saw a Christmas Countdown on someone's blog and I couldn't believe it! Only 93 days left till Christmas! That's a very good reason to participate all year round in the fun challenges at the Christmas Card Challenges blog, becuse the time just flies. Between being on the DT for CCC and teaching an all year round Christmas Club card class, I have more Christmas cards than I need.

This is my DT inspirational card for this week's sketch challenge.

All in cream and gold. It is one of my favorite colour combos. Oh, and this is the sketch for the challenge that I designed my card around. I made a few changes to the sketch by turning it on it's side and by having the sentiment strip come out from the star.

The shape of the card was die-cut using Grand Labels Eleven.

I die-cut the star using Star STAX Die-Namics from gold metallic cardstock and also from a Scor Tape sheet. I attached the star adhesive to the gold star and then rubbed gold glitter to it.

The paper used for this card comes from lats year's Carta Bella Christmas Day collection.

Here is the card from different angles.

Thank you so much for stopping by to have a peek. Please be sure to check out the other DT Christmas Card Challenge 43 creations for this sketch challenge.

Music - DT Christmas Card Challenge #42

This Sunday, the theme of the challenge at Christmas Card Challenges is "Music". I love paper that has music notes on it, and I guess it shows on my DT submission for this week's challenge since I've used two different designer papers with music scores on them; one from Websters and the other from Teresa Collins.

The cute little chickadee is a downloaded digital image that I printed in gray rather than black, and colored with my Spectrum Noir markers. I added a very thin layer of Stardust Stickles to the holly, and some Frosted Lace on the bottom of the circle frame (which is still wet in the photo) to look like snow.

Here are a few more different views of the card.

Thank you so much for having a peek today, and I hope that you join in on the challenge this week. You do not have to use the challenge theme of 'music' as long as you enter a Christmas card.
Have a great week, and happy papercrafting!
