Upsy Daisy Christmas Layout Instructions - Scrapbook Parade Class

Hope you're having a good day today!

I promised my class since I didn't have the time to type out instructions for class, that I'd post them on my blog for them to refer to. Any one else interested in these layouts are welcome to use these measurements and layouts, as long as you don't claim them as your own design, with your choice of papers as well.

First one-

Let's begin with the white branches. These were created with multiple punched out Martha Stewart Branch punch pieces. One whole page was punched out using the same paper as the background paper in this case.

All papers included in this kit have on the other side of the bar code strip at the bottom, a patterned strip. These are all cut off and used in out layouts, with the exception of the strips from this first layout base papers. IMPORTANT - the paper with the journaling cards on one side has a brown with white hatching strip that is higher than the bar code strip measurement. Please cut the entire height of the strip from the pattern side. There are three of them.

All pieces, with the exception of the flourish die cuts and the branch punched pieces are all "Doodle Framed".

Circles - These are Spellbinders Large Standard Circles - the largest one. The blue mat is done by tracing the outer edge of the largest circle die, and cutting them out with scissors. The red is cut using the die, and the photos that will go in can be done by tracing the inner circle of the die (3 1/2" dia photo) and cutting them out using scissors, or you could die cut with the next size down die.

The ''J'' and the ''Y'' were cut out on my Cricut using 'Learning Curve' set at 4''. The blue was cut as 'Shadow' upper case, and the stripe at normal upper case.

Brown Gray Argyle Pattern (at the bottom of page)

I just counted the diamond shapes to figure out cutting this piece. - 16 diamonds wide and 2 diamonds high and cut it out with scissors.

The striped piece that is layered over the above and across to the next page 10 1/4" W x 1 1/2" H on the left and 4 1/4" H x 1 1/2"H on the right. These are distressed with a paper distresser and then 'Doodle Framed'.

The 4 blue square photo mats are cut at 2 3/4" square and 'Doodle Framed'.

The trees are 1 at 3"W x 8 1/2" H and 1 at 2 1/2" W x 8"H. These too are paper distressed and 'Doodle Framed'. I also used Xmas Red Stickles in the red dots on the paper, with Silver Stickles on the darker gray dots, and Glossy Accents on the lighter gray and white dots. I drew the star at the top of each tree with Silver Stickles.

The next step is to place the brown gray flourishes die cut out of the argyle patterned paper using Die-Namics Fancy Flourish die.

This is where you would glue on all the white branches punched out earlier.

Then you pop dot the three circles on the layout adding the 'J' and 'Y' close on either side of the circle being used as the 'O'. You have to cut through the 'Y' as it covers both pages.

The last thing is to add the White Enamel Accents to look like falling snow and to create a border or line in places.

Here are some close up photos that may help in understanding the instructions or aide positioning of pieces for the layout.

Now, for the 2nd layout -

The blue pattern paper for this layout has a direction to the pattern. Be sure when you cut them down that the pattern will be in the same direction on both sides. Cut down each to 11 3/8" W x  10 3/4" H.

Round the four outer corners, not the ones the meet in the center. After attaching, 'doodle frame' the blue pattern paper.

Red and gray striped strip at bottom -  1 at 4 1/2" W x 2 1/2" H and 1 at 7 1/2" W x 2 1/2" H   AND the White plaid pattern - 1 at 4 1/2" W x 2" H and 1 at 7 1/2" W x 2" H. After attaching the latter to the former, the smaller piece is placed on the left of the center and the larger butted up right next to it on the right of center.

BANNERS -
-red - 1 3/4" W x 4 3/4" H
-blue - 2 3/8" W x 8 7/8" H
- white with stripes - 1 1/2" W x 5 1/2" H
-red with gray stripes - 3" W x 9 1/2" H
- white with dots - 2" x 8 1/2" H

Striped strip across top is two of the pieces cut off with the bar codes on the other side.

5 snowflakes cut on the store AccuCut are placed over the strip across the top

Photo mat- 2 red - 4" x 6" and 2 brown gray - 4" x 6"

Pocket at bottom right - colour in the holly, berries, and text (can add year if wish) and stencil using Spellbinders Labels 20 and Pumice Stone ink with an ink blending tool. Cut out the tracing of the outer edge of the Labels 20 die and attach the stamped image on it. Create a pocket when attaching to the page and trim down the library card so there is no text on the front of it and create your journaling tag.

Use White Enamel Accents to create a snowfall look.

Here are some close ups of the layout to help.

And lastly layout 3 -

This is obviously a single page layout.

Take the snowflakes and the Labels 20 frames and using your finger lightly cover these items with Star Dust Stickles. Set them aside to dry. It won't take long as the Stickles are so thinly applied. Don't worry if they curl up while drying. Most of that will go away when attached.

Use a Martha Stewart Deep Edge punch and punch 2 strips, each one to have 1/4" scor tape on the non pattern side. Miter the bottom left joining of these two strips and attach.

Take the three brown strips and a narrow punch like Fiskar's Apron Lace and punch both sides matching the pattern on each side. Add over the straight edge of the deep edge punch and miter the inner corner as well.

Take the two blue snowflake strips you cut off with the bar code and cross them on the left near the punch corner.

Cut out the journaling tag by cutting off the bottom up to the bottom dotted line and up the sides of the dotted lines. Attach it and add a bit of a corner frame from the brown apron punch left overs.

Photo mats -  1 at 6" x 4" and 2 at 3 1/4" square.

Overlap the Labels 20 on the photo mat corners as per the photo taking care to not attach the part overlapping onto the photo mat so that you slide your photo under it when attaching to the mats.

Take the last smaller snowflake and attach to the Labels 20 piece and pop it up under the two square photo mats.

Again, create the falling snow look with white Enamel Accents and make dotted lines along the brown, and Labels 20 frames and anywhere you wish.

Here are more detail shots of the page for you.
