Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

This month's Papertrey Ink blog hop invites us to pick our favorite project from last year and create a new version of it.

I chose this gift decor project from last year:

Here is my re-creation:

Using the tree stamp from 2009 Autumn Tags, I heat embossed in clear powder. I then stamped the circle from Modern Wood Mats over top in Dark Chocolate ink. After letting it dry, I used a damp wipe to smudge the ink around the circle a bit (got a little carried away in spots ;)  ). The sentiment is also from 2009 Autumn Tags and was stamped in Scarlet Jewel.

Thanks for stopping by!

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Rustic Cream
  • Stamps: 2009 Autumn Tags, Modern Wood Mats
  • Ink: Versamark (Tsukineko), Dark Chocolate, Scarlet Jewel
  • Other Tools: clear embossing powder (Filigree)

Very CAS, and very effective! The smudging was a great idea! I too love the original project, and this card is a great take on it.

WOW. Both cards are fantastic in their own ways. I love the second for its simpleness but I also love the original for its depth and texture. Great job on both!

The little tree image on the second one is so sweet and the used of dark chocolate ink over the embossed tree creates a really unique look. I think this would make a great masculine card ... clean and simple but very effective.

Your first card is wonderful! How can a person resist those tiny cut out acorns? Seriously too cute. Your new card is lovely as well! The perfect amount of white space (or rustic cream space;). The smudging you did gives it a pretty organic quality. Great cards!

I love both of these cards. Fabulous color combo in the first, and I love the simple beauty of the second card - awesome one-layer card! ;-)

Hey, I just found a bunch of comments on other posts from you in my spam folder - I had no idea the spam folder even existed (soooo not computer savvy here!). Thanks so much for leaving them, and I've tried adding the post emailing feature on my sidebar - I have no idea how it all works, so you'll have to let me know if it does work! ;-)

Thanks again, and thanks for sharing your beautiful cards. ;-)

Love the clever way you used Modern Wood mats over the clear embossing. Great job!
