Wendy's Giveaway

Just an FYI that Wendy of Created by Wendy is giving away some luscious looking twine! Enter by Dec 31st!

Best of 2010: Dana

My mom, Sabrina, came up with the idea of picking our favorite personal cards of the year... Fabulous! Every crafter has duds and every crafter has epiphanies. So here are my favs:

I love how vintagey this turned out! Well, rustic, anyway. I can do rustic but have issues with vintage. The texture in RL (real life) is perfect! The original post is here.

I love how GIRLY this turned out! Beautiful details, if I do say so myself. Original post here.

Check out this bad boy! Lots of effort and detail with fabulous results! Original post here.

Lovely colors and detail, though a pain to mail... ;) Original post here.

Pretty, pretty! At least to me. ;) Original post here.

This card turned out fabulous! A fun background and plenty of texture on the front. Very fun! Original post here.

This card was made using a design sketch challenge and a color combo challenge. I loved how it turned out! Original post here.

The photo even turned out well on this one! I thought this was super fun with the plastic mesh and embroidery thread strings. Sometimes, I amaze myself! ;) Original post here.

A duo of cards that are a conglomerate of ideas from others! The talent of others never ceases to amaze me! Fun and simple, distress-y cards! Original post here.

I'm still proud of this one... Simple, yet beautiful and elegant. Original post here.

 I'm still in awe of this one! It looks so... DESIGNER! Ah, my heart! Original post here.

There's a few more I like but nothing extraordinary. Thanks for taking a walk down memory lane with me!

Stamping Vacation DT: White Space Challenge

This month's White Space challenge at the Stamping Vacation blog asks for a white card with a colored border and ribbon.

A quick card that turned out quite nice!

I used my Bow-Easy on this one. ;)

Merry Christmas, all!

  • Stamps: Inside & Out: Holiday
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
  • Other Tools: Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers)

Stamping Vacation DT: Have You Tried Challenge

I forgot to post this at the time of the challenge but this month's Have You Tried challenge on the Stamping Vacation blog asks us to try weaving ribbon through lace. I've weaved lace through felt before but I think this was a first for this.

Due to time constraints, I didn't do any coloring (plus this look deserves watercolor pencils, which I don't own) and so the card is quite blandly monochromatic. I also don't care for how the sentiment turned out stamped on the image. I do like how the "embroidery hoop" turned out, though.

The image is from Stamping Dragon Designs, Stamping Vacation's sponsor from October...

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Stamper's Select, Rustic Cream
  • Stamps: embroidery hoop image (Stamping Dragon Designs), sentiment from You're Sew Lovely (Lawn Fawn)
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Antique Linen (Tim Holtz Distress Ink)
  • Other Tools: lace (dollar store), ribbon (Michael's), Circle and Grand Labels 1 dies (Spellbinders), Stardust gel pen (Sakura)

Christmas Packages: Visiting Teaching Sisters

I made three of these babies to give out to my Visiting Teaching companion and our 2 sisters but wasn't able to get a picture of them all together before handing them out. I had to make all of them in an hour so they were quite simple.

This was not the best one of the bunch but gives you the idea.

I love Tiny Treats: Christmas!

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Stamper's Select, Pinefeather
  • Stamps: Tiny Treats: Christmas
  • Ink: Pure Poppy, Tuxedo Black (Memento)
  • Dies: Favor It Box 2, Mat Stack 1
  • Other Tools: Copics: BG99, Y15, YR23, R59; Stardust gel pen (Sakura)

Reconstituted Christmas Card

Sometimes I keep Christmas cards that I receive and particularly like (storebought... I ALWAYS keep homemade ;) ). I reconstituted this one into my own thing. This happens to fit with this month's PTI Blog Hop!

The card base was stamped with Versamark using Peaceful Poinsettia and heat embossed in gold. The layers were created with Deckled Mega Rectangles Spellbinders.

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Scarlet Jewel, Pinefeather
  • Stamps: Peaceful Poinsettia
  • Ink: Versamark (Tsukineko)
  • Other Tools: Deckled Mega Rectangles (Spellbinders), gold embossing powder

Rustic Wreath

Another painstakingly paper-pieced Lawn Fawn stamp--this time the wreath...

I stamped the wreath on some New Leaf Bitty Dot paper and cut out the leaves, attaching them with pop dots to the stamped card base. The ribbon is colored with a Copic marker and the berries done with Liquid Pearls. The rhinestone at the center of the bow is an iRock GlamRock: Pearl.

The sentiment is a little too close to the bottom because I actually trimmed the card post-stamp. Not too noticeable, though!

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Kraft
  • Patterned Paper: Bitty Dot Basics
  • Stamps: Bows and Holly (Lawn Fawn)
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
  • Other Tools: R24, W1 Copics, Ruby Red Liquid Pearls (Ranger?), iRock/GlamRocks: Pearls

Wise Men Still Seek Him

CardMadFairy is the sponsor at the Stamping Vacation blog this month. I've had their wonderful images printed for some time waiting for this month to arrive and then, of course, BAM! Christmas took up so much time! I was finally able to incorporate the two with the following!

I started by coloring the star image with a Copic marker. I used a glue pen on the little dots and sprinkled Prisma glitter on them. The center is a vintage-type .... brad? Instead of a stabby thing it has little grabby things... Anyone know what that's called?

The scalloped square layer was embossed with the Swiss Dots folder and adhered to a square card base. I rounded all the square corners with my Chomper (1/4" side).

The interior sentiment reads "Wise men still seek Him."

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Stamper's Select, Harvest Gold, Simply Chartreuse
  • Stamps: digital star (Cardmadfairy)
  • Other Tools: Swiss Dots embossing folder (Cuttlebug), Grand Squares (Spellbinders), Grand Scalloped Squares (Spellbinders), brad (unknown) and Big Bite (We R Memory Keepers), YR23 (Copic), glue pen/Prisma glitter, Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers)

Stamping Vacation DT: What a Guy Challenge

This month's What a Guy Challenge at the Stamping Vacation blog is to make a black and white masculine card. This immediately called to mind a 40th birthday card, where tradition has declared the colors to be black.

I recalled, belatedly, that I could have made the banner sentiment out of Harold's ABCs or something instead of hand-printing with a Copic Multiliner pen. Ah, well.

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: True Black, Stamper's Select
  • Stamps: Banner Builder
  • Ink: Fresh Snow, Tuxedo Black (Memento)
  • Other Tools: Circle die (Spellbinders), Double-Ended Banner die, Multiliner pen (Copic)
