Christmas Samplers with Kaisercraft "Letters to Santa"

Hello everyone!

I am excited to share with you this fun class coming up soon. I love vintage Christmas! And to have a project that can be used as a whole piece, or in parts and versatile, makes this class a good opportunity.

Here you see the three sections side by side like a triptych.

This is a great class to create last minute Christmas gifts, or for that added vintage Christmas decor touch you've been looking to add to your home. We are creating three (12 x 12) samplers that can be used as individual pieces for the home or as individual gifts in a shadow box frame. They can also be used together as a triptych by screwing the pieces together in their frames, or on wood plaques.
There is fussing cutting homework with inking edges. For class we will straight cut pieces of paper and assemble the samplers in class. The homework will be available to take home on Saturday, November 25th.
When our projects are done, you will have plenty of paper left from the kit (with stickers, too) to create more beautiful Christmas projects or cards!
BRING TO CLASS: Homework, paper trimmer, (non-stick) scissors, 2 rolls of black 3D foam tape, liquid glue (matte if you have), double sided adhesive tape, Gathered Twigs ink pad and ink blender, baby wipes for hands, nonstick craft mat, gold Liquid Pearls, Clear Wink of Stella, & Glossy Accents.
When: Saturday, December 2nd
Time: 12:30 - 3:30
Cost: $45.00
To RSVP for this class, contact Stacey - sbebc2011@gmail.com or 778-533-4290.

Not Class Related Cards - Quick and Easy with Designer Paper Scraps

Hello everyone!

It's not often that I get to share with you some cards made on my own to send off. Usually I use cards that I have made from classes to send off. However, with my recent move, I have not been able to find all of them yet. Since I needed to send off about 10 cards (8 TY & 2 Bday) I thankfully found my 'Thank You' cards. However I needed two birthday cards and I could not find the box of birthday cards! So I found some paper scraps (old and new) and created them.

First off, is a card made with some old paper from an 8 x 8 pad from Teresa Collins, years ago. It had such beautiful Fall colours which would be great for an October birthday. And I found a Stampin' Up birthday stamp set too...

Here is a peek at the side view to see the layering of the card.

Next, I created a card for a belated birthday card. Due to the move and classes taught, I was unable to get this card off for the birth date. But knowing that at the age of 93, she would not mind, I felt it would be fine. I also included a long letter inside, which she loves as her hearing makes phone calls  harder to hear what is being said.

Not long ago I taught some classes that used the lovely Graphic 45 'Portrait of a Lady' collection. I had some scrapes left and was able to quickly put together this card as well.

And, the side view to see the layering.

Late last night I received a phone call from my ex-mother in-law, and she was so thrilled with the card and letter.

Well, thank you for stopping by to have a look at my quick creations. Hopefully I will soon find the boxes with all the other cards. Also hope that these simple cards will give you some inspiration for creating your own paper collection cards.

Happy creating!

Graphic 45 Winter Wonderland Layout Class

There are so many gorgeous papers in this incredible Christmas collection! We will only be using a few of them for this class. It is always nice to have a single page as a title page to your Christmas album, so for this class we will create one that can be used as such, or if you wish, you may frame it and hang it or stand it somewhere as Christmas décor. We will also create a double page layout using the Scandinavian influenced papers in this collection. Be forewarned that we will be using 1/16" in our cutting of paper, so you may wish to check out your paper trimmer to find them on it so that you are prepared for class.

Each of these layouts have plenty of space for further embellishment if you so wish, and have the collection at home...like fussy cutting some of those lovely Poinsettias. If you do not have this collection yet, I highly recommend ordering the collection from Stacey, and make more pages for your 2017 Christmas photos, adding to the pages we start in this class.

You may also bring photos if you are creating for a past Christmas. Photo sizes - 1 @ 6"w x 4"h, 3 @ 3" x 3", and 5 @ 3 5/8"w x 4"h.

Watercolour Pencil Class - Introduction

Some of you have been waiting for this day! You have requested that we have watercolour pencil classes, and here they are. These classes will be held every other month at Scrapbook Essentials BC, with the Spectrum Noir colouring classes continuing in between them. So if you are a colouring enthusiast, now you can colour in two different ways!

We will go through the different watercolour paper and what works best with them, difference in watercolour pencils with pros and cons, sharpening watercolour pencils, care of watercolour pencils, different watercolour brushes, dry & wet watercolouring, water vs blending fluid, gradient tips, erasing watercolouring, types of ink pads for stamping & watercolouring, and more. I will have a handout with sections for taking notes. The following photo shows you the sample sheet we will work on in class.

Class Description

Watercolouring is a beautiful art form for cardmaking, and even scrapbooking layouts. With a few basic tips and a little practice anyone can create beautiful works of art with easy to use watercolouring pencils.

In this introduction class, Sabrina will cover some of the basic tips and techniques of pencil watercolouring. Everyone will receive a handout in class with information and tips that will be covered in class. Each person will also have an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of watercolouring paper with squares and rectangles where we will practice these basic tips and techniques. It will be the perfect size to place into a binder and sleeve to refer to in your future watercolouring projects.

Future classes will have an actual project that we will work on, and in time will include some intermediate techniques to add to your watercolouring skills.

Please Bring to Class:
A non-stick craft mat, watercolour pencils (we will have some you can use for this intro class if you do not have any), a margarine/yogurt lid, a small bottle with a little water in it, watercolour paint brushes, Aqua watercolour brushes (these hold water in the handle of the brush), pencil sharpener, craft knife, heat tool, pencil, pen, & a binder to hold your practice sheet and handout with notes.

WHEN: Saturday, October 28th
TIME: 10:00 - 12:00
COST: $25 + GST

To RSVP for this class, contact Stacey - sbebc2011@gmail.com or 778-533-4290.

I have some favorite people to go to online to see their beautiful watercolour pencil creations, and am sharing a little of their work to entice you to come and learn, and perhaps, to become a master watercolour pencil artist.

Perhaps you may even want to create your own images to frame and hang in your home, like the one below. Yes, it was created with watercolour pencils...

Thank you for stopping by to have a peek. Looking forward to having some watercolour fun with you.

Happy colouring!

World Cardmaking Day - October 7th

This day is coming up fast, but because of my move and being in the middle of settling into my new place, I have not been able to post things of late. Saturday is WORLD CARDMAKING DAY and Scrapbook Essentials BC has three wonderful card classes scheduled on that day. Now for us Canadians that is our Thanksgiving weekend.... But I encourage those here in the Victoria area to at least take one of the classes and plan your Thanksgiving preparing around that class. You will have some lovely cards to give to those special people that are coming over, or you are visiting, for Thanksgiving.

So without further adieu, here are the three great classes for World Cardmaking Day!

Long Card Stack
Card Class with Sabrina

When: Saturday, October 7th
Time: 9:30 - 12:00
Cost: $35 + GST includes the 6X8 paper pad!
For this class we are using a unique sized pad of paper
measuring 6"w x 8"h. With paper this size, I just had to create some long cards. Whether they be vertical and tall, or horizontal and long, these cards fit perfectly into the #10 business envelope. The cards are designed so that you have plenty of space to add your own stamped sentiment banner/pieces. These are simple and easy cards, but involve some fussy cutting in class. You will have enough paper left in this pad to create a lot more cards, or even a mini album,....
PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: paper trimmer, scissors, double sided adhesive tape, scotch tape, black 3D foam squares/tape, mini-glue dots, liquid glue, multiple sized rhinestones
Garden Life Line from Blue Fern Studio
Card Class with Carol

Join Carol to make these simple and pretty fairy cards on World Card Making Day.  The fairies are fluttering in the garden, living a life full of flowers and sunshine. Lots of fussy cutting and layers.  It is hard to see the layers on these cards so come on into the studio and see them up close.

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: distress tool, good sharp scissors, paper trimmer, pumice stone distress ink, blending tool, adhesives and pop-dots.
HFC Festive Holly Cards
Class with Stacey
