MISTI Class With Altenew "Majestic Bloom"

I love stamping with Altenew layered stamps. One of my favourites, and on my wish list for a very long time has been this beautiful "Majestic Bloom" set. I look forward to making more cards for my own personal use and ideas when I can. In the meantime these are the two cards we will be doing in our June MISTI Layered Stamping class.

MISTI & Altnew Majestic Bloom Class
WHEN: Thursday, June 14th
TIME: 6:00 - 8:30
COST: $42 + GST (includes the $28.95 stamp set)
Contact Stacey at sbebc2011@gmail.com  or  778-533-4290 to reserve your spot
Hello MISTI Layer stamping friends! I am so excited to share with you the card samples for this class! I have wanted to get this stamp set for a while, and hope that you will love it as much as I do. In this class we will once again explore stamping with colours that are not traditional, and we will also learn how to stamp on coloured card stock using a white ink before adding colours. Stamping on coloured card stock can be a lot of fun.
PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: Completed cards (or photos) from last class, MISTI or Stamping Platform, scissors, heat tool, stamp cleaner, wipes for your hands, VersaMark pad, Embossing Buddy or antistatic tool, white embossing powder, scrap paper, Platinum Liquid Pearls or Nuvo Metallic Silver Lining drops. INK PADS - Memento Colours - London Fog & Gray Flannel, Pear Tart, Rose Bud & Lilac Posies; TH Distress colours - Shabby Shutters & Crushed Olive, Weathered Wood & Hickory Smoke, Spun Sugar & Worn Lipstick; Altenew colours - Silver Stone & Industrial Diamond, Rose Bud & Razzelberry, & Bamboo & Olive. If you have other ink pads, just make you best guess with the colours you see in the photos.

This first card we will be stamping mostly in gray tones except for one of the blooms. This one can be fussy cut or die cut out and popped up to make it stand out more in colour and dimensionally, as well.

The side view shows the bloom and sentiment strip popped up.

For this pink card we will learn how to stamp onto coloured cardstock. (You can see in the photo how my antistatic powder did not work too well this time round) I love stamping colour on colour!

Closer look at the sentiment. It was double heat embossed to make the sentiment pop out just a bit more.

Now this next card is not a card that we will make in class, but one that I will show in class. It is an example of what you can do using jus the leaves in this set, and using non-traditional colours for the leaves. I was upset about finding these spurts of water on this card after taking the photos. I guess I did it when I washed my hands...

So that is it for today. Hope that I get to see you in our class. We will have fun stamping and getting our fingers all inky.

Happy stamping!

MISTI / Altenew Pretty Pansy Class

Hello Everyone!

I arrived back home yesterday and have been checking up on the upcoming class. I discovered that I forgot to post a class before I left! In some ways it turned out to be a good thing because I do not have anything new yet to post for you. So today I will be sharing with you the layered stamping class for May 23rd!

MISTI & Altenew Pretty Pansies Class
WHEN: Wednesday, May 23rd
TIME: 6:00 - 8:30 (may go over a bit)
COST: $42 + GST (includes the $28.95 stamp set)

Welcome to another MISTI Layered Stamping Class! For this class we will be using the Altenew Pretty Pansies stamp set. This set has up to 3 to 5 layers to create a variety of different types of Pansies.
We will be learning a different layering system in this class that involves gold heat embossing for one card, and for the other we will take the flower and make it more masculine just by the colour choices. You will have the choice of fussy cutting, using your dies that go with the set if you purchased them, or using the die set I will have there with my die machine.
If you would like to order the matching die set to have during class they are $16.95 and you just need to let Stacey know so she can order it in for you.
PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: Your completed cards, or photos of completed cards, from the last Tulip class in March (prizes from Sabrina), your MISTI or Stamping Platform, your Lawn Fawn Stamp Shammy or a micro cloth with stamp cleaner or water, baby wipes for your hands etc, mini-glue dots, white foam pop ups, full adhesive post it notes, Versamark (embossing ink) pad make sure it is juicy and not getting dry (you may always purchase a refill from Stacey), gold embossing powder, scissors, your die cutting machine and plates if you will use your coordinating dies, and your ink pads.
INK PAD COLOURS: for each of the pansies, you will need up to 4 colours. You can get by with 3 colours just by how you stamp each layer. Test the colours at home to see if the colours you choose will work well together and if they need re-inking. If you want to go with my choice of colours you will need 3 - 4 yellows, 3 - 4 pinks, 3 - 4 turquoise, 3 - 4 blues, 2 greens, 2 kraft/beige colours. (Other pansy colours are purples, orange, red/burgandy, etc) Bring only water die based ink pads (no archival, chalk, or pigment ink pads please). Recommended ink pads that you may have at home are from Memento, Altenew, or even Stampin' UP. If you wish to purchase more colours to have for class, please contact Stacey as well.

This first card will take some time because of the multiple colours and flowers. This will be a new technique for you to learn as we will be heat embossing and layer stamping!

For the second card of this class, I wanted to see if I could use cute little pansies and make if a little more masculine. This card involves some masking.

I am wishing that I had not let so much of the leaves peek out from under the pansies, but I do like the colour combination. Hope you do too. If not you can always choose different coloured stamp pads to bring to class.
Pansies are one of my favourite flowers and I am really looking forward to this class with you.
Happy stamping, and see you soon!

MISTI & Altenew Class #2 - Tulip

Today we are having our first MISTI or Stamping Platform class combined with introducing, new to Scrapbook Essentials BC, Altenew layered stamps! Also today, I am sharing what we will be doing in our 2nd MISTI & Altenew class for March. I will be visiting my sisters and my daughter in February, so the 2nd class will not be until March.

Here is the layered stamping we will do in class.

MISTI Class & Altenew # 2 - TULIP

WHEN: Tuesday, March 13th. FULL
TIME: 6:00 - 8:00 (8:30)
COST: $40 + GST (Includes Stamp Set)

To register for this class contact Stacey at sbebc2011@gmail.com  or  778-533-4290.

Another Exciting MISTI & Altenew class; our 2nd one! In this class we will focus not only on layered stamping, but the use of white Gel Pens to add highlights to your stamping. We will also used some old favorite techniques that you may not have used for a while to combine with our stamping platform fun.
Just a note...We may only get our stamping, inking done in class, and not actually get to assembling the cards. Your kits will include all the needed pieces to complete the cards at home if needed. If we do get them done in class, that will be a bonus!

NOTE ON THE INK PADS - Since the focus of the class is how to maximize your MISTI or Stamping Platform tool and introduce you to layered stamping and Altenew stamps, we are not focusing on what ink pads or specific colours to bring to class. As long as your ink pads are water based dye inks, you will be fine. You can even pick different colours from the ones that I used. And, you do not need to have three different colours to use layered stamps. You can use just one colour to get three different tones, or even just two. Your ink pads do not even need to be from the same company. So feel free to choose your colours and ink pads from what you have at home.

I did not use the following stamp pads listed below, however these are the closest in colour to what most of you have (Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads), or just bring whatever colours you want. You do not need to use the same colours for your tulips.

Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads
Peeled Paint & Mowed Lawn or Forest Moss, Picked Raspberry & Festive Berries, Broken China, Squeezed Lemon & Mustard Seed or Fossil Amber, Spun Sugar or Worn Lipstick & Abandoned Coral, Shaded Lilac & Dusty Concord, and Candied Apple & Fired Brick. You will also require a black ink pad like Memento Black Tuxedo.
PLEASE BRING TO CLASS - MISIT or Stamping Platform with magnets, Glossy Accents, white Gel Pen, 3 x 3 Super Sticky Post-It-Notes (these have adhesive on nearly the entire back of each note), White 3D Foam Tape (or other white foam tape), scissors, mini-mister with water, heat tool, medium sized clear stamping block, stamp cleaner and micro cloth (or well washed new $1 store kitchen dish cloth), 3/4" circle punch, a ruler, non-stick craft mat, and the ink pads and colours of your choice.

ADDED JANUARY 23rd

The class is so popular, we have had to add a second class, and it too is already full!

WHEN: Wednesday, March 21st FULL
TIME: 6:00 - 8:00 (8:30)
COST: $40 + GST (Includes Stamp Set)

To register for this class contact Stacey at sbebc2011@gmail.com  or  778-533-4290.

Here is a closer look at the cards we are making. Note the Nuvo Drops & Glossy Accents as well as the white Gel Pen highlights.

Happy stamping!

New Series of Classes For the New Year - MISTI & Introducing Altenew Stamps

I am very excited to share with you a new series of classes for 2018! In this series of classes we will be combining two things. Tips and trips on using your MISTI or Tonic Stamping Platform, and layered stamping using the gorgeous Altenew flower stamps!

You will have to forgive the poor quality of the photos. I took them in the evening, and the lighting in my new place is not good for taking photos. I am working on what I can do to improve them again for you, but in the mean time please be patient with the images.

Here are the cards we will be making in our very first class!

CLASS INFO

When: Wednesday, January 10th
Time: 6:00 - 8:30
Cost: $40.00 + GST (includes $24 stamp set)

To register for the class, contact Stacey - sbebc2011@gmail.com or 778-533-4290.

I am so excited to share with you so many new things using your MISTI. We will mainly focus on layered stamping for the MISTI series of classes, and I will introduce you to some wonderful stamps from a fairly new company - Altenew. For all of the MISTI classes it will be up to you to bring your MISTI or Tonic Stamping Platform to each class along with your ink pads. I will always give the colours for the class, but you choose how light, bright or dark you want to go with your choice of ink pads.
For our first class we will be using the "Bold Blossom" stamp set from Altenew, and we will make three cards. You will learn how to maximize your MISTI with layered stamping with some tips and tricks in each class, There will be tips on how to stamp a masked strip and also how to mask and overlap flowers and leaves.
See you there!
PLEASE BRING TO CLASS - MISTI or Tonic Stamping Platform, Washi-tape or masking tape, stamp cleaner and cloth, double sided adhesive tape, Sea Breeze Nuvo Jewel Drops, Pale Periwinkle Nuvo Jewel Drops, Glossy Accents or liquid glue, tweezers, pen, ruler, pencil and notepad, 3 x 3 post-it pad, scissors, white 3D Foam Squares or Foam Tape and the following ink pad colours:
Black, a pale yellow, pale peach, and dark pink, pale blue/turquoise, a pool-like colour, and a deep teal/turquoise, a mid olive-like green and a little darker version of green, a pale pink, mid pink and dark pink.

If you have a problem choosing, you can always contact Stacey at the store/studio for some help.

OK, now on to the card close ups!

In addition to the Altenew Bold Blossom stamp. I also used their 'Super Script' stamp set. Love this set!

This simple card looks so beautiful with the layered stamped flower.

Next, I will be showing how you can mask and stamp a strip and later cut it up and pop up that strip from the card piece.

I decided to deliberately stamp the sentiment vertically, which you can tell by the roses, but I see that overtime someone puts the card back they go with a horizontal placement, making the flowers look a little off. Perhaps my idea was not such a good one... The added bit of doily adds just the right touch.

For the third and last card in this class...

Sorry about the poor quality of the photo...

I will have to admit here that I cased this card for class created by Dana Smakula from Pinterest.

So there you have the cards we will make in class...or hope to make. We may just get the stamping done and the simpler cards put together...will see what time allows.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
