Family Birthday Cards III - G45 Fairy Dust

Hello Everyone!

Are you ready for the third and final card of this series?

Again it is 5 x 7, and this time the frame I used is  constructed a little differently. I did not have rectangle dies this size, so what I did instead to create this frame was to cut a piece of paper measuring 4 1/2" x 6 1/2". Then using my paper trimmer I lined up and placed the piece to line up at 1/2" on the right of the blade. I then positioned my blade at 1/2"  and pushed it through the paper and cut down to 6". I rotated the paper using the same procedure but adjusted to the measurement of the piece. When done this gave me a frame I could use.

Next, I used the paper piece from the inside and trimmed off 1/4" all the way around. I did this so that the pattern on this piece of paper would work better visually.

Next, I attached the fussy cutting I had done from scraps of paper and the Cut-a-part cards from the collection. Here is a closer look at that.

The next two photos are side views showing you more details. You can see that the frame is attached directly onto the background paper, and the centre part of the rectangle is popped up. The background fussy cut image is glued down at the base, and other images are popped up over the first.

This time I chose to stamp my sentiment on cream card stock and pop it up.

Between the three recent birthday card posts, you have seen two ways of creating a frame to use on your cards. Hope you have been inspired and are trying to use frames on your creations.

Thank you for stopping by to have a look. Upon my return I will have to get to making another card kit. So that means you will have more cards to look at in about 2weeks. Probably some class photos in there too since I have a class on the 14th.

In the meantime, happy creating!

Family Birthday Cards II - G45 Fairy Dust

HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE!

As you know, I am away at a Family Reunion, and a couple of days ago I posted the first of these cards. Today you get to see the second card that I made for the Family Reunion birthday cards. Again, this is an A7 (5 x 7) card, and once again I had to use the stripped paper to create a popped up frame. The fussy cut images are cut out from the cut-a-part cards and popped up around the frame. It's not often that I decide to stamp my sentiment directly onto the paper collection paper, but in this instance it works well.

Here is a little closer look at the details...

...and the next two images show the side view from each side so that you can see the layering.

The one thing I forgot to do on this card was to sparkle up the fairy wings. I had a lot of fun  layering these images, and I think this girl is going to love all the fairies.

Have you ever created a popped up, mitred frame from paper strips? You might like to try it out. Have fun!

Happy creating!

Family Birthday Cards I - G45 Fairy Dust

Hello Everyone!

At our Family Reunion, one of the things we will be doing is celebrating all the Summer Birthdays, and as I have few cards at the moment to give away, I had to make some of them. The three that I made were all for girls between the ages of 11 and 14. So, I decided to use the Graphic 45 Fairy Dust collection to make the cards with.

This first Card I am showing you is a A7 (5 x 7) card that opens up a bit like a trip-tic.

For the front of this card I created a frame, something I seem to be doing a lot of late, by cutting strips, backing with foam tape, cutting the angles and attaching. Then I popped up the centre piece that I cut out of one of the cut-a-parts in the collection. You can't see in the photos, but I did put some sparkle onto the fairy wings.

From this side view you can see the layering.

When you open the card you are greeted with some fussy cut images and a sticker from the collection.

When you open the last section you are greeted with the paper that has flowers and fairies all over. The centre section I painted out when I edited, because I forgot to take the photos before writing in the card. I do know that this 11 year old girl is going to love displaying this card on her desk or dresser. I sparkled up all of the fairy wings on the paper here too.

I hope that you enjoyed this fun card. When was the last time you made a card like this? Do you want to try making one again? Have fun!

Happy creating!

A Simple Birthday Card For a Grandaughter - G45 'Fairie Dust'

My grandchildren are getting older, and for most of them I can not make those cute little fun kind of children's cards any longer. For a granddaughter turning 9, this pretty paper from Graphic 45 the  'Fairie Dust' collection, works just fine. I forgot to glimmer up the wings though!

As you can see this is a quick and easy, and a mailable card. Just fussy cut around the broader of this cut-a-part from the paper cutting away the framing but leaving what went over the edge of the inner frame.

You can see in the photo below, that the layering was simple too.

I always enjoy making cards for family members, but it is even more special when it is for a grandchild.

Happy creating everyone!

Class Photos - G45 Fairie Dust I

Hope your week is off to a good start. Also hoping that you will have a little time set asisde to be creative this week.

Saturday was a great day at the crop, where I also taught the Graphic 45 Fairie Dust Diorama card class. I took a few photos that have since been posted on the Scrapbook Essentials BC Facebook page, but am posting them here on my blog as well.

Everyone enjoyed the class and look forward to creating their own diorama cards. Here are the photos from class.

We decided to put everyone's cards together at the end, so you can see how they all turned out and see their different creativity. Did they not do a wonderful job!

Well that is it. If you wanted to be there, we missed you.

Happy creating everyone!

Another G45 Fairie Dust Card Class!

Today we are having our G45 Fairies Dust Diorama card class, and the good news is that we are having another Fairies Dust Class in April! And these are the cards we will be making!

A SECOND G45 FAIRIES DUST CARD CLASS

WHEN: Saturday, April 21st
WHERE: Langford Legion Crop
TIME: 9:30 - 12:30
COST: $35.00 + GST
To register for this class, contact Stacey at sbebc2011@gmail.com  or  778-533-4290

We have had the Fairie Dust Diorama card class, so now lets have a class creating more traditional types of cards. These pretty colours and fairy images make great cards for girls, Mothers' Day, and more. What can be more fairy-like than using gauze. And what is more fun than creating a "Z" card!
There will be homework which will be available after March 28th. Sabrina will be away the first 18 days of April, so that is why the homework will be available sooner than usual.
PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: your fussy cut homework, paper trimmer, scissors, double sided adhesive tape, mini-glue dots, white foam tape or 3D Squares, a score board and scoring tool, and a shimmer pen or Wink of Stella.

Let's have a closer look at the cards, shall we.

On this card all four stamps from the theme page 'Fairies Dust' are used along with one of the violet stems.

This card focuses on the little card on the same paper along with fussy cutting from the page border.

We are making a 'Z' card as well with a bunch of fussy cutting from the theme page (Fairies Dust) as well as mushrooms from 'Tiny Toadstools'.

On the blank space above, as well as on the back, a person may write to the receiver of this card.

The last and fourth card, has a few popped up layers.  I think it is amazing that with one leftover fussy cut mushrooms, popped up layers, and a sentiment banner with some gauze, you can make an eye-catching card.

These are the card for this class on April 21st. It will be just 2 1/2 days after I arrive back from visiting my son and his family down in Phoenix.

See you there! And happy creating!

G45 "Fairy Dust" Diorama Card Class

Even though it is just days before Christmas, I have been busily working on classes for 2018. Always great to get them done with lots of time for everyone to to view them and plan to take the classes offered at Scrapbook Essentials BC. Great as an Instructor too, to have things planned and ready to go. Then I just have to put together the class kits for you when the class date draws near. The goal is to plan a 'quarter' (three months) of classes at a time, and have the samples ready for you.

You have already seen the classes I have prepared for January and February, and now this is the first March class samples! This will be it for now, as we are waiting for some product to come in for the rest of my March classes.

For the March Graphic 45 class we are using the beautiful "Fairy Dust" paper! That isn't the only exciting thing about this class; we will also be creating two A7 (5 x 7) DIORAMA CARDS!

Here they are!

They will fit beautifully in A7 envelopes to mail. They will, however, be thick which will mean additional postage if you mail them off to someone special,

G45 Fairie Dust -- Diorama Cards

WHEN: Saturday, March 10th
WHERE: Langford Legion Crop
TIME: 9:30 - 12:30
COST:
$35.00 + GST

To register for the class, contact Stacey - sbebc2011@gmail.com or 778-533-4290.

March and Spring is soon upon us! Perfect time of year to create some lovely Spring / Easter / Mother's Day cards. And not just any card, but Diorama Cards! They fit into an A7 (5 x 7) card envelope, but will be thick. There will be a die cutting station set up for you to use as we will have to attach the paper onto the cardstock before we can die cut.
Please have a look at the samples at the Studio in the New Year.
You will be guided with printed instructions to help you create these cards, and there will be HOMEWORK. The homework kits will be ready for you the 1st or 2nd of March.
PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: Homework, paper trimmer, 12 x 12 score pad with scoring tool, bone folder, scissors, double sided adhesive tape, craft mat, liquid glue, and black 3D foam squares or tape.

AND I forgot to mention on the store post that it might be a good thing to bring your Wink of Stella or Glimmer Pen to class. It was an after thought once everything was posted that it would have been a good thing to use. I had not thought of using it when I made the cards.

So let's have a closer look at the cards.

As you can see in the next photo, that card fits nicely in the envelope.

When out, you can manipulate it to the form it into a Diorama Card.

A little closer look into the inside of the diorama.

A side view of the card.

Next comes the horizontal version of a Diorama card. This one has two inner layers, which makes a little thicker than the previous diorama with one interior layer. But it still fits into the envelope, but is a little thicker.

Here is the card standing on it's own. You can peek into the inside.

A little closer look into the inside.

A side view...

and the other side view.

So that is it for these wonderful keepsake diorama cards!

See you in March for this class!

Happy creating everyone!
