Bobunny 'Serendipity' Shabby Chic Class

Welcome to another Shabby Chic class!

I love the papers we are using for this Shabby Chic class, and there is not a ton of flower fussing cutting! We will be using silk flowers this time round! I love the birds.

You may wonder about the space where you think something should be there; well that space is for the sentiment that you wish to add to your card at home.

Hello Shabby Chic & Mixed Media fans! Come join us to create these 'way to thick to put in an envelope' cards! Aren't they gorgeous! NO HOMEWORK! We will be using silk flowers, and the little fussy cutting there is we will do in class. Frame the cards, make beautiful card boxes for them, or give them as they are. They make a beautiful gift card holder.... We will be painting more plastic, using NUVO Mousse, and using Gel Medium Matte to attach lovely, sparkly glass beads. Another fun thing we will do is learn how to colour cheese cloth!

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: fussy cutting scissors & your regular scissors, non-stick craft mat or Mixed Media mat, double sided adhesive tape, white foam tape or squares, hot glue gun, liquid glue, mini glue dots, Gel Medium Matte, white Gesso (not a liquid), NUVO Mousse Gunmetal Gray, NUVO brush, a mini mister, Gather Twigs ink refill, heat tool, jar with water, paint brushes, pallet knife,  paper towel, hand wipes, apron or wear work clothes. Sabrina will have these things there for your use if needed (except the work clothes. LOL)

A Shabby Chic 'Z' Fold card.

Aren't these cards beautiful? I am sure some special birthday person or mother or daughter, will love to receive one of these. See you there!

If you missed seeing the other class it is the Garden Goddess Tall & Skinny card class.

We will have fun stencilling, playing with NUVO Mousse, working with white gesso, making a nest of two different fibres, and learn some tips in making dimensional projects. This mixed media project makes a great gift that can be displayed on a stand or hung on the wall. It also coordinates with the cards made in the Tall & Skinny card class.

This mixed media class is not as detailed as our previous ones, but does require some fussy cutting homework, which will be ready for pick up on Saturday, January 26th at the Crop.

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: Homework, Non-stick craft mat, stencil/s, texture paste (ask Sabrina or Stacey if need more info), liquid glue, hot glue gun & glues sticks a must, white foam tape, heat tool, white gesso, silicone brushes, 1" wide paint brush, jar with sealing lid and water, NUVO Mousse - Calypso Coral & Spring Green or Aloe Vera, paper towel, wipes, & apron or old shirt. I will have product here for you to use if needed.

This is a much easier mixed media class, but one that is very dimensional! I know that you will enjoy making one, so see you in class!

2018 Favourites - Sixth Category - Card Kits

Welcome to the sixth and final 'favourites' category. Over this past year we introduced card kits to Scrapbook Essentials BC., and I believe I made about 11 kits for 2018. I am not going to post my favourite kits, but rather my favourite cards from all the kits. Though as I think about it I do have a favourite kit - "Wild at Heart" masculine cards. They were clean and simple but had many layers.

Let's begin with the first kit of 2018, "Rustic Cards". From this kit, my favourite is the 'happy' card.

The colours and many different layers appeal to me very much. The idea behind this card is to continue the 'happy' sentiment with a word strip for one of the following: birthday, anniversary, graduation, back to school, etc., which could be placed just under the 'happy' or over the letters of 'happy'.

The next card kit I will be picking favourites from is from the 'Wild at Heart' kit. This is hard to do because truth be told it is the paper for this kit that I really love, and just picking a couple of cards is a challenge.

The next kit that we had was a rustic, vintage, homestead card kit. Again, having a hard time to pick a favourite, but one of my grand-daughters helped me with this. I always like dark kraft and red together, and that is one reason I like this card.

I like gingham and polkadots and navy, which make this card I am drawn to, as well.

For the same reasons as for the above card, I like this one too. And, one of my grand-daughters pick this one as her favourite from this kit. I like the circle with the banners hanging from it and the colour spritzed flowers that were originally white.

There was another kit made using the paper from a 6 x 6 "Authentique "Always". While this kit was again not one of my favourites, there were some techniques done in this kit that I love to do, and decided to show the cards that show these techniques.

  1. using striped paper to miter and create a frame
  2. wetting paper and ruffling it, then drying it nice and stiff
Mitering

Paper ruffles

(I also love using the NUVO Drops)

Some of the card kits were Christmas cards. The Authentique "Vintage Christmas" kit was one that had some fun to make cards in it.

I like this one because of the layers of die cut used to create the word 'Merry' with GLossy Accents, and the NUVO Drops for snow falling.

I like this tree created by looping the paper strips, and using the pattern on the paper to add NUVO Drops to it.

This one is my favourite one from this card kit. A simple star die cut in different sizes. It too has the layered letter die cuts with Glossy Accents, and the NUVO Drops.

Another card kit was created from paper called "Black Out" because all the paper is black and white. Some are textured papers, some are glazed papers, and and others traditional double sided paper. This was a very large kit with 15 cards. The favourites from this kit are for different reasons.

One such reason is the colour combination of red with the black and white...

...another the pink flowers and circle/oval/square frames...

...and stamping with simple black ink to add something else to the design.

The last card kit created in 2018 is another Christmas card kit using BoBunny's "Winter Playground" paper from last year. There was a lot of fussy cutting for this card kit, but what I liked about it was taking the square cut-a-parts and cutting them all in half to use on the cards and add the fussy cutting to that. Also, the NUVO drops really made a difference again. These are my favourites of the eight cards.

Well, that is it for the card kit favourites. I have another kit done a while back, but we are going to post it for some time toward the end of January 2019 or in February.

This completes the postings for my 2018 favourites. Hope you enjoyed the review. Looking forward to creating more favourites for 2019.

After this post, I will be going back to posting classes for the new year.

Happy creating!
