Triangle Treat Box Tutorial

-Finally!

My apologies for not being able to get this out for the weekend. It turned out that I was a bit too optimistic about being able to squeeze it in. But I have it for you today.

This is the box that a few requests were made for instructions.

You may use designer cardstock, as I did above, or plain cardstock that you can stamp up or leave as is. For the tutorial I'm using just pain cardstock.

Begin with a 6" x 4" piece.

With a pencil and placing the 6" right side up and horizontally on your score board, mark at 3" and rotate to the other side and mark it also at 3".

Now place the 4" side at the top and mark at 2". Rotate to the other 2"side and repeat.

(I used a pencil to show you where you will need to score by connecting the dots)

Once again place the 6" across the top and score at 3" all the way down.

The next four score lines you make will be at an angle. It is for such purposes that I have filled in the 6" score line on my score board. It makes so much easier to score connecting the dots.

Please ignore the holes punched here. I went one step too far before taking the photo ;)

Now you will fold along all of the score lines.

Now you will punch the holes.

With the two flaps overlapping on one side, you will punch a hole about 1/4" from edge.

Repeat on the other side.

This would be the moment that you would fill the treat box.

Then you will feed your ribbon through the holes.

I like to use a 1" or wider ribbon. Here I'm using  a 1 1/2" ribbon. You can used whatever width ribbon you like.

Then you pull the ribbon through to the other side and feed it through the holes there.

At this point you may either tie a bow or just a knot as I did here.

And now, you can embellish the treat box in any way you wish to as I did for the Valentine treat box shown again below.

This treat box is great for Easter, birthday parties, showers, weddings, halloween, and more. Even as place cards for a dinner party. If you use the measurements I used here you can get 6 treat boxes out of one 12 x 12 sheet. You can of course change the size to fit the occasion or use of the box. Have fun with these simple boxes!

Ghoul's Night Out

I've held off on posting this because I keep trying to decide if I want to add a spider to the tree web or not... I would just be making it with a black Pebble and some embroidery thread, maybe some mini-googly eyes or white Enamel Accents. Perhaps I'll still do it; there's time until the event.

This card started out as just the spiderweb tree idea. Then I decided to do the rolling hills in patterned paper. Added inking and stitching and voila! I had quite a lovely night scene. So I made my sentiment match. This card inspired me to invite the "ghouls" out for a treat around Halloween. Not sure of the specifics, but it's as good an occasion as any to have some fun!

I actually sprayed this card with some Goosebumps Shimmer Texture Spray by Tsukineko. It's a great effect but didn't photograph well so I leave it to your imagination!

I'm entering this into Moxie Fab World's Assymetry Challenge.

The embossed tree qualifies this card for CAS-ual Fridays, though I'm not entirely sure this card qualifies as CAS...

Happy Halloween!

I combined the following challenges for this card: CAS-ual Fridays, Lawnscaping and For Your Inspiration (all graphics below).

I wanted it to look like the interior of a cave and used the sky colors from the FYI photo below. To make the colors look "sketchy" I used Q tips with my Distress Inks. I used my usual blending foam to ink the edges of the "cave" a misty white.

The Lawnscaping challenge is about embossing and the CAS-ual Friday challenge is paper-piecing a fall-themed card. All the white is heat embossing... I just love that spider! Sold me on the whole set.  ;) All the bats were paper-pieced into the cave scene. Googly eyes work irresistibly well with Lawn Fawn stamps!

The window (which works perfectly for this week's Wonderful Windows at Our Creative Corner) was created by cutting around the spiderwebs with a craft knife and slipping a Spellbinders die in. THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED!! I had to curve the die in a scary manner to slip it in and again when slipping it out! It seems not to have affected the die... Phew! It was still a heart-stopping couple of moments in my history of paper-crafting.  ;)

Trick or Treat

This year for Halloween I made homemade chocolates for the students in my son and daughters classes. I packaged the treats using the following supplies:

For my daughters class of 29 students I put the chocolates in clear bags and cut out labels on my Cricut from the Accent Essentials cartridge.

I used the following supplies from PTI:
-Friendship JarFall Fillers Stamp Set
-Just the ticket Boarder Die
I folded the labels in half and stapled the tags on the labels through the bags.

I made gift boxes for my sons class as there are only seven kids in his class.

I used the following PTI supplies:

Back ground stamped on the mat stack using Everyday Treats stamp set
I used Kraft paper for the favor box, and orange zest for the mat stack, and Plum pudding paper for the ticket.

For the Trick or Treaters I put candies into clear bags and cut out labels on my Cricut from the Accent Essentials cartridge.

Halloween Birthday Cards

A coworker asked for a Halloween-themed birthday card for her son and I had so much fun with this! I gave her a choice of three...

Now, I realize I got the pun wrong on this one... It should probably read "creepy" rather than "spooky" but I had a hard time telling someone to have a creepy birthday... I inked the embossed web with white chalk ink. This was my first time ever cutting vinyl with the Cricut!

I used my Martha Stewart Spiderweb edge punch on the inside of the card...

The next card was a little simpler. There is an inverted scallop border under the sentiment circle that's difficult to see but otherwise, fairly straightforward. The embossing was done on Core'dinations and then sanded... The twine was colored with a Copic marker!

This last card was my first idea... I even sketched it ahead of time! Guess I needed to work up to it!

It's my first gatefold! I did a full A7 size which required the use of some 12x24 Cricut cardstock for the card base. I used embossed, sanded and distressed panels on the front with Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock. I love the idea of spiderweb-punched vellum!! In retrospect, I should've distress inked these for better effect...

I got the patterned papers on the front with this card in mind. I think they're cute! I zig-zag stitched them for fun. Should I have inked these as well? It's easy to want to ink everything!! ;)

So much fun! I love all the details on this!

The writing panels and sentiment strip started out as white but were inked with Anitque Linen, Old Paper and Black Soot Tim Holtz Distress Inks. The haunted house was embossed on Core'dinations Black Magic, cut out and sanded. I love how it turned out on the bat background paper (which I, of course, distress inked first!)!

Finally Able to Make a Scrapbook Page! - Halloweens Past

After making sooooo many cards, I finally said, "That's it! I'm stopping everything to make a scrapbbok page." Now, while I was excited to do this, in the end I was not happy with the result. Normally, I like to make sketches of layouts for my pages before actually working on them and compiling them. But, because at the back of my mind I felt rushed, thinking that  I should get back to the card making as soon as I could, I didn't do it and regret. But, it's done now, and still the memories remain the same when I look at the photos.

I did have more Halloween photos not long ago. However, I went through all my pictures last year to divide between my five children and their Dad, and these three are all that I have left. Just enough to remember by. In each photo, all the costumes were made by me. At least from what I can remember, I don't think I ever purchased any Halloween costume. I made them all! Wow! I never really thought about that before. That's a lot of Halloween costumes!

The only tools I used for this page were Martha Stewart Spiderweb Border Punch and Corner Punch, and a round corner punch - Oh, and a 5/8" circle punch.
