Canvas Encased Hidden Mini - Botanical Tea

It has been a while since my last post. A number of things have kept me from doing so. But, I'm finally able to now share with you the latest project I've created for Paper Architecture With Sabrina.

Some of you will be familiar with the class "Hidden Mini" that I taught a while back in 2012 using Graphic 45' "Ladies Diary".  Some have asked since then that I make instructions for a similar project. And here it is!

This time, rather than the 8 x 8 stretched canvases used for the first project, I'm using 7 x 5 canvas frames from a 'dollar' store, and Graphic 45's 8 x 8 Botanical Tea paper collection.

January Visiting Teaching Handout

Some of our followers are LDS and love to see the handouts I make for church classes or for Visiting Teaching, so on occasion I like to post them.

This month I used Graphic 45's large tags and turned them upside down, die cut a circle out at the new top and changed it to a door hanger. On the right you can see what the tag looks like before doing anything to it.

I used Tim Holtz Vintage Photo around the edges of the tags and just about everything else.

So this was the end result.

 A little closer look...

 I used My Favorite Things Upsy-Daisy Die-Namics for the daisy and Spellbinder's Foliage for the leaves, and Spellbinders Petite Ovals to cut the photo and it's mat. I printed onto Bazzill cardstock the quote from a favorite hymn that was part of the VT message and cut them out like a banner.

 I attached the leaves and daisy to each one.

And from the back, you can see the eyelet hole of the tag and how I attached the ribbon and string.

So there you have the Visiting Teaching message handout, a door knob hanger, made from Graphic 45's Large Tags. Each woman that received one enjoyed her little handout. One even plans on taking it with her to Jamaica as she and her husband are to serve a mission there for 18 months. I was touched that she would do that.

Of course you can make this door knob hanger with other themes and purposes than I did here. Have fun coming up with your take on this idea!

Relief Society Bulletin Board

I've been meaning to post this for days now, but have been very busy. Still am, and should be doing something else right now, but will make this short.

The church I am a member of has a women's organization called "Relief Society". The Relief Society president of my Ward (congregation) asked if I would decorate the large bulletin board outside the Relief Society room with the theme of "Strengthening Home and Family". So using the Upsy Daisy collection 'Home Sweet Home', and my 'Heritage' cartridge on my Cricut, this is the board.

The little houses you see all over were fussy cut out from the leftover paper used to mat the printed quotes and popped up on the board. Yes, I can't go without popping things up, even on a bulletin board. The section on the right is for posting announcements, etc.

File Folder Scrapping II

It's always nice when class participants desire to have another class based on an idea. The File Folder Scrapping class was a success last week, and many wanted a second class with a different layout. So without a bunch of words, and just a few photos, here it is!

 

I made a few charms by punching out some images in circles and gluing two together with embroidery floss between them, and created a tassel as per my tutorial here.

 

So we will be having this second class at the end of September. If any of you in 'blogland' wish to have these instructions for the second File Folder Layout, I will have them available for you in October on my Paper Architecture with Sabrina blog. The first layout instructions with links to accompanying video tutorials are now available here.

Christmas Stars Greeting

Yes, I'm adding more Christmas class projects. Everyone here seems to plan way in advance to make things for Christmas. When you think about it, there is about 4 1/2 months left! Yikes! This class is scheduled for the beginning of October.

This project is a Christmas decor item that can be placed on the mantel, sofa table, sidebar/buffet, dining table, or in an office at home or work, can be given to someone that no longer can put a tree up, someone in a nursing home, to a friend that just loves Christmas decor, a grand-child that wants something 'Christmasy' of their own, in their own space; and list goes on and on.

You'll be surprised that there is only one photo from me today! Me, who usually has a gazillion photos! I won't keep you waiting any longer. Here it is.

Takes longer to make this than you think! I really like the wooden spools.

This is what I used to make this set.

 10  1/4" x 12 " wood dowels trimmed to various sizes, 10 wood spools, Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage 6 x 6 pad (2012), My Favorite Things Star STAX Die-Namics, By The Letters Uppercase Die-Namics, Martha Stewart Alpine Snowflake punch, Spellbinder's Poinsettia, 1/2" wood buttons, 7/8" grosgrain ribbon, 7/8" jingle bells, Star Dust Stickles, Gold Stickles, Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy ink pad and blending tool, Mini-Bowdabra & gold wire, Bazzill Kraft & Beeswax cardstocks, and a brown journaling pen.

Graphic 45 French Country Matchbox & Tags

Many of you know that I love Graphic 45 paper and staples. At Scrapbook Parade, where I teach classes, we are starting a Graphic 45 Club in September, with classes every month. For the first club class, this is our project.

Mainly the Graphic 45 French Country 6 x 6 pad was used with a little leftovers chipboard pieces, some of the cardstock die cut punch outs, and two images cut out and leftover from the 8 x 8 pad. The flowers are made using My Favorite Things Mini Hybrid Heirloom Rose Die-namics, and the tiny butterflies made with a tiny punch, and the leaves punched out with Martha Stewart's branch punch.

You may be asking what is inside this matchbox? Well there are 6 tags in there! But first a couple more detail photos.

A few details - There is no opening for the box. The clasp is just decorative. I died the kraft box using a sponge foam brush and a few drops of my Memento Tuxedo Black ink refill. It was so easy to cover the box this way and the black is beautiful.

Now for the tags!

Now do I show you each tag separately, or as a collage. Showing them individually would make this a very long post, so I'll use the collage of the tags. Change that - the tags aren't large enough for those that don't finish the class and need to see them close up to complete them. So Individual it is. Oh, and there is a video at the end!

File Folder Scrapping

Some of you may be familiar with Heidi Swapp's Memory system she created. From the first time I saw her idea, I was intrigued and have wanted to see if I could make my own twist on her concept using regular office file folders, and have a class on making them. So here is one I came up with. It was quite fun to make, too.

When you open it, you see this-

Whenever I make a layout or a mini I usually like to crop my photos, but this time I left the space for them at 4 x 6. You can also see the two attached booklets inside. In the video below, you can see more about them.

When you flip the top booklet to the left, you can see the back of it and the front of the other one under it.

I used washi tape throughout the folder along with some scrap strips from cutting up the pieces for the folder. When you flip over the bottom booklet, you see this -

So that's it fr the photos, but you can see more in the video as well as further ideas for this project. The class is at the end of August, so I will have the instructions for this folder on "Paper Architecture with Sabrina" after that.

Oh, do you see the spine from the inside of the folder? Notice that it is cream? I forgot to place the strip I had cut in there! Can you believe that. I couldn't help but laugh when I was nearly finish and came upon the strip.
