Oh Baby

A baby card for a friend to give to her teacher:

My camera was acting up this morning... :(

I used a Distress Paint dabber for the first time. I used a stencil and there was quite a bit of bleeding. I don't mind the effect, but it wasn't what I was going for.

The baby rattle shaker was created using a sheet of acetate (from PTI stamps) and embellished with a bit of lace and twine.

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Classic Kraft, Vintage Cream, Gold Shimmer
  • Stamps: Wonderful Words: Baby
  • Ink: Versamark (Tsukineko)
  • Dies: Baby Button Bits, Wonderful Words: Baby
  • Accessories: lace, Cream Cotton Baker's Twine
  • Other Tools: Delicate Doily stencil (MFT), Picket Fence Distress Paint (Ranger), gold embossing powder (Filigree), foam adhesive sheet

PTI Make It Monday

I've been working up a storm in the craft room making up some Christmas thank you cards.

I love PTI's a la carte Make It Monday! They are so many wonderful techniques and ideas! I finally decided to make my first shaker card.

Next time, I would add another foam layer. It's a little squishy in there. ;)

I love this adorable little snowman!

If you have any questions, please leave a comment. Otherwise, the tutorial is here.

I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.

Celebrate Spring

A fun interactive Spring/Easter card. Shake and find 4 bunnies and 4 ducks in amongst the many flowers in the shaker box card. The flowers were cut using Cricut's Plantin Schoolbool cartridge and embellished with tiny brads and placed in a re-cycled packaging container. A frame for the box was cut using a combination of exactor kinfe and scissors and the box backed with a bright purple patterned paper. The brightly striped paper is edged with a bright pink ink. Spellbinder's Nestabillities - large scallop circle used to cut the pink circle, edged with bright pink ink with the same ink used to stamp 'celebrate'. "Spring" stamped at the bottom with a bright green Dew Drop Billiance ink.

I've decided that I like the fun of shaker cards and will be saving more packaging for future creations of shaker boxes for cards.
