Favourites of 2017 # 7 - Personal projects

Well, today is the last of the series for my 2017 favourites. I hope that you have been enjoying the overview of the past year. There were many class projects to choose from. At the end of 2018, I will not have has many to choose from as I am teaching fewer classes and freeing time to pursue other things like Family History/Genealogy, and so much more. I am missing teaching some of the classes I  did in 2017, but have a more balanced life, which is important.

On to the last category of my 2017 favourites - Non Class Projects & Personal Projects

This first card is on display at Scrapbook Essentials BC, but I may claim it to make way for new display items. This tall card was created using Graphic 45's Vintage Hollywood. You can see the original blog post here.

This next card is one of a small number I created for the March Open House at Scrapbook Essentials BC to announce being chosen as a Spellbinders Educator. It is still on display at the store. I think I will need to get all of my display projects out of the store to make room for new ones.

This turned out to be one of my favourites not only as a Spellbinders card, but as a Spectrum Noir coloured card as well. See more photos on the original post here.

This card was also made for the big reveal with the one above. It too is a Spellbinders stamp & dies card coloured with Spectrum Noir markers. (Love the little lady bug on the right) Here is the original blog post.

This next project I made for one of my daughters. I would normally not have purchased this collection, even though I am a Graphic 45 fan, but as soon as I saw it in the store, I knew what I would do with it. I am only showing three of the many photos here, but there are more and a video walk-through as well if you want some ideas. Here is the link.

This next card came not too long ago on my blog. It is a card made for my daughter's birthday. A Fall birthday, so I love the colours. Here is the original blog post for more details.

On the same blog post there is another card for another birthday for a 94th birthday! I made it using some scraps and leftover fussy cutting, so it was quick and easy. Detail and more photos, here.

Toward the end of Summer I came across ALTENEW! It was new to me, and I was edited to see all the beautiful floral stamps and dies they have. I finally purchased a set, Bold Blossom, and when I came across the November Challenge, I took the time to finally make something for the first time and enter the challenge. You can read more about it on the original post here.

After the above challenge, I decided to challenge myself and see if it would be possible to make a Christmas card using the same Bold Blossom set. I learned that you do not need to have a Christmas stamp (just a Christmas sentiment) to make a lovely Christmas card. See original post here.

These next two cards are again Christmas cards recently posted on my blog. I love the paper collection pad that these two cards were created with. You can read about the paper collection on the original post here. I made other cards with this adorable paper, but these two are my favourites.

For the last 2017 favourite is a Christmas card created using Spellbinders. I created the card to put on display for a Spellbinders Contest held at the store. I had fun experimenting a little with layering die cuts and working with non-traditional colours. See the posing here.

I would like to let you know that there are plans in the works for a few new things to happen over the next couple of months. So be sure check back in every so often to find out what new things will transpire. A few of the details are still in the works, so I can not say what they are just yet. The one thing that I can tell you is that you can look forward to a new look on the blog! It seems that I need a change every so often.

Favourites of 2017 # 6 - Layout Classes

Today we will have a look at my favourite layouts for 2017.

I think I have to begin with the 6 layouts created for the series of classes using Graphic 45's Portrait of a Lady. It was difficult for me choose a favourite from each of the three classes, and I do not know if it is because of my love of the paper, or because all the layouts are about my Mom who passed on in June 2016. And my last two favourite layouts are once again using Graphic 45 paper. Winter Wonderland! First we have a single page layout that would work great as a title page to a Christmas album. See the class posting here.

This is using the paper to create a monochromatic double page Scandinavian layout.

Even though I did create several other layouts, these are more my style and therefore easily chosen as my favourites.

I was thinking how nice it would be to create more G45, or vintage, or even Shabby Chic layouts. Maybe I can fit a few in for their new year.

Favourites of 2017 # 5 - Watercolour Pencil Classes

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

This Fall we started Watercolour Pencil classes, so I do not have much to show here in my favourites. After the initial class, our 2nd class was a big leap of father for everyone, but I was impressed with everyone's work. We do not actually make cards in class, but we paint images ready to use on a card.

We did take the time to make cards in this class, and since I could not decide on a favourite one or two, I putting all down as a favourite. See class post here, and I think I forgot to post the class photos to share.

Well, that is it for the Watercolour Pencil classes for this year. I have posted some in December, but as they are classes for 2018, I use them in my 2018 favourites review for this year.

Well we are getting there with my favourites. Just 3 more to go!

Favourites of 2017 # 4 - Spellbinders Educator Classes

It was amazing to earlier this year be chosen to be a Spellbinders Canada Educator. Since then Scrapbook Essentials BC has had at least one Spellbinders Educator class a month. There is so much one can create using dies, and for today I have picked. my favourites from these classes.

Graceful Fan class... See class post here. Of the three cards made, I this is my favourite.

For this next Spellbinders class, I at first did not know what to make of the die set that sent to us, but I actually ended up with favourites from this class.

A more feminine version...

and a more contemporary or masculine version.

And from this class, I like all three, but I think my favourite is this one. We also had fun with the new Tim Holtz Oxide Ink pads in this class to get all those beautifully coloured leaves that we die cut. Here is the class post where you can see the other two cards we made.

I have posted more Spellbinders classes, but they are for 2018, so I will review them as favourites for 2018. And...I have other Spellbinders cards that I made cards with but are more for display at the studio or were personal creations. You will see these in a few more days.

Favourites of 2017 # 7 - Personal Projects

I decided at this point to skip over the proposed sharing of Project Class favourites, and go right to my favourite creations that were not created for a class. Some are personal creations, and others are samples that are in the Scrapbook Essentials BC store and studio.

The first favourite I will re-share with you is the Graphic 45 Vintage Hollywood Tall Card. It is on display at the store. Here is the posting of the card. You can see some close ups there.

I like it enough that after all this time at the store, I might just ask for it back. L.O.L.

I love how the following card turned out. It is a Spellbinder stamp & die set, and the Spectrum Noir colouring turned out beautifully on this card. More details here.  I might ask to get this one back too, so that I can use it. I have the perfect person to give it to.

This next one is another Spellbinders stamp and die set creation. Details seen here.

In March of 2017 I posted a project that took me some time. It is an Album specially created for one of my daughters. I just sent it to her in December for her birthday, and she loved it. You can view all of the photos and a video tour of the project here.

I know that my plan is posting projects not for classes here today, but this did not fit in any of the other categories so I am including it here today. 

I created a big project for a series of classes where we complied and created this album using the Heartfelt Creation's Album and the flip fold page attachments along with the gorgeous Graphic 45 Nature's Sketchbook. View all the photos here.

OK, back to personal projects.

Next comes a birthday card that I made for another of my daughters from a paper collection I have had for a very long time. Included in the post that day was also another Portrait of a Lady card that I was able to quickly put together from scraps and left over fussy cutting. Here they both found are.

Next come a couple of cards I created after my discovery of Altenew! This is the first stamp stet that I purchased and created two cards with the same set. One for the October Altenew Card Challenge, and one just to see if I could make it into a Christmas card.

More Altenew Christmas cards created using the Majestic Mistletoe stamp set. I made 8 of these with the intention of making 16 more. Eight in a non-traditional grans and peach colouring, and another 8 in grays and Aqua colours. Unfortunately these last 16 did not make it into production except for the gold embossing of the sentiments.

I also found some real cute Christmas paper this year that I just had to get and create with. I made several different cards using these cute papers, but maybe because I have been working on Christmas projects and classes since July, it was easier to pick a favourite from this bunch of cards (all on different posts). Then there is another Spellbinder card that I created to help inspire people to participate in a Spellbinders contest held at the store. I love this card, and hope to pick it up the first time I get back to teaching classes at the studio this month. View post and photos here.
