Sympathy Card - With Altenew Stamp & Die Sets

Welcome!

Today I am sharing with you a sympathy card that I made for my brother-in-law whose father just passed away. I wanted to make something quickly to mail to the US, and so I knew I needed to draw on my layered stamps from Altenew, and drew my inspiration from one of my own earlier creations.

This time I opted for a larger card (A7), and also chose to add the rose from Bold Blossoms to the Majestic Blooms.

Since this card is going in the mail, I did not pop anything up except for the sentiment strip.

The photo above and below are just a little closer look at the flowers and leaves that I stamped and die cut.

Side view shows that the flowers and leaves were glued down without popping up with foam squares or tape.

I love the colour combination for this card, and believe that my brother-in-law (& sister) will like the card. The one thing I wish I had done differently is heat embossing the sentiment in black rather than just ink stamping it.

Requested Identical Thank You Altenew Card In Another Colour

I was asked by a friend if I could make a card exactly like one I had made before, but in Navy & Pink. The card I am referring to you can view by clicking here. It's the black & yellow card.

Here is the card I made for my friend.

So even though this card is the same as my black & yellow card, just the colour change makes the card look quite different. The one thing I noticed is that the light pink sold background stamp of the flower shows white in the photos. I guess the lighting faded the light pink out.

In the next couple of photos you can see the three layers of the bloom and how I cut them up.

From the next two photos, you can see from each side the layers of the entire card.

So, the original black & yellow card seems much more dramatic and eye catching than this navy and pink one. But it is still beautiful.

Changing Up the Majestic Blooms Class

You may be wondering why I am posting this class again. Well, we had to make some changes and reschedule the class. So what is happening, is instead of two cards made in class, we decided to offer a third card as a take home kit in this class. Isn't that exciting!

So this next card you see will be one that we will be making in class.

This is the layering stamp set we will be using in class.

Altenew Majestic Bloom Class

This class is not just for MISTI or Stamping Platform users. If you like stamping with your stamp blocks, you cane come and learn how to layer stamp using your blocks.

Hello Layer stamping friends! We are so excited to share with you the card samples for this class!  In this class You will be creating two lovely cards using this stamp set, and have everything you need to go home and make a third card that includes instructions, so you can keep using your new stamp set! we will once again explore layered stamping and also learn how to stamp on coloured card stock using a white ink before adding colours. Stamping on coloured card stock can be a lot of fun with beautiful effects.

In class we will create the pink card, and the yellow & card card. The gray & green card will be your take home kit (and of course, you can used any colours you like at home)

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: Completed cards (or photos) from last class, MISTI or Stamping Platform, scissors, heat tool, stamp cleaner, wipes for your hands, VersaMark pad, Embossing Buddy or antistatic tool, white embossing powder, scrap paper, Platinum Liquid Pearls or Nuvo Metallic Silver Lining drops. INK PADS - Memento Colours - London Fog & Gray Flannel, Pear Tart, Rose Bud & Lilac Posies, Dandelion & Cantaloupe;  OR TH Distress colours - Shabby Shutters & Crushed Olive, Weathered Wood & Hickory Smoke, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick Scattered Straw & Mustard Seed. You will also require a White ink stamp pad. If you do not have one, I recommend getting ASAP for the class.  If you have other ink pads, just make you best guess with the colours you see in the photos, or bring the colours you want to play with. If you wish to take notes of techniques you will need your class notebook and writing tool.

So here are some closer looks at the card you saw at the beginning of this post.

Notice the layering of the blossom. It really adds some lovely dimension to the flower.

New Birthday Card With Altenew Majestic Bloom - not for a class

I know so many people, many are family, that have their birthdays during the Summer months. So I sometimes need to make new cards if I am running out. I have dozens of cards on display at the studio but I can not use them. I thought it would be good to play with my Altenew Majestic Bloom stamp set, since I love the look of it, and I need practise using the stamps.

This card is for my Mom's best friend. Mom is no longer here, so I try to remember her friend's birthday and give her a card.

I was originally thinking of using silver embossing powder for this card, but could not find it. So, I went with Altenew's Platinum embossing powder and I loved it! Must remember to use that colour more often.

This next photo close up is to show you the stencilling I did in the background using NUVO Mousse in Gunmetal Gray. I wanted to use the Platinum, but found that was one colour I did not have.

The next two photos show a side view so that you can see the layering of the card better.

You can see under the pink blossom, that I used two layers of pop up tape at the bottom of the flower. The top part that is overlapping the blue blossom, has a single layer. And the banner is popped up as well.

I think I am getting better at using this stamp set. I am thinking of try a couple of watercolour versions with this set as well.

MISTI Class With Altenew "Majestic Bloom"

I love stamping with Altenew layered stamps. One of my favourites, and on my wish list for a very long time has been this beautiful "Majestic Bloom" set. I look forward to making more cards for my own personal use and ideas when I can. In the meantime these are the two cards we will be doing in our June MISTI Layered Stamping class.

This first card we will be stamping mostly in gray tones except for one of the blooms. This one can be fussy cut or die cut out and popped up to make it stand out more in colour and dimensionally, as well.

The side view shows the bloom and sentiment strip popped up.

For this pink card we will learn how to stamp onto coloured cardstock. (You can see in the photo how my antistatic powder did not work too well this time round) I love stamping colour on colour!

Closer look at the sentiment. It was double heat embossed to make the sentiment pop out just a bit more.

Now this next card is not a card that we will make in class, but one that I will show in class. It is an example of what you can do using jus the leaves in this set, and using non-traditional colours for the leaves. I was upset about finding these spurts of water on this card after taking the photos. I guess I did it when I washed my hands...
