Another G45 Fairie Dust Card Class!

Today we are having our G45 Fairies Dust Diorama card class, and the good news is that we are having another Fairies Dust Class in April! And these are the cards we will be making!

We have had the Fairie Dust Diorama card class, so now lets have a class creating more traditional types of cards. These pretty colours and fairy images make great cards for girls, Mothers' Day, and more. What can be more fairy-like than using gauze. And what is more fun than creating a "Z" card!

There will be homework which will be available after March 28th. Sabrina will be away the first 18 days of April, so that is why the homework will be available sooner than usual.

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: your fussy cut homework, paper trimmer, scissors, double sided adhesive tape, mini-glue dots, white foam tape or 3D Squares, a score board and scoring tool, and a shimmer pen or Wink of Stella.

Let's have a closer look at the cards, shall we.

On this card all four stamps from the theme page 'Fairies Dust' are used along with one of the violet stems.

This card focuses on the little card on the same paper along with fussy cutting from the page border.

We are making a 'Z' card as well with a bunch of fussy cutting from the theme page (Fairies Dust) as well as mushrooms from 'Tiny Toadstools'. 

On the blank space above, as well as on the back, a person may write to the receiver of this card.

The last and fourth card, has a few popped up layers.  I think it is amazing that with one leftover fussy cut mushrooms, popped up layers, and a sentiment banner with some gauze, you can make an eye-catching card.

These are the card for this class on April 21st. It will be just 2 1/2 days after I arrive back from visiting my son and his family down in Phoenix.

Secret Garden Mother's Day Easel Card

-I've been waiting a long time to make some classes using the Graphic 45's Secret Garden collection, and here's one of four planned.

Hello everyone! I'm excited to show you this beautiful Mother's Day easel card made with some of the beautiful Secret Garden papers. Somehow, Graphic 45 and fussy cutting just seem to go hand in hand, and that's what I've done in the making of this card.

For the background I used the 8 x 8 'Leafy Treetops' and cut it down to 5 3/8" x 5 3/8". I then took the border that had been cut off and pieced it around the new size so that it would look like the original 8 x 8 framed piece. I should have taken a photo so that you could see the transformation. I'll try and remember the next time I do something like that.

If you are wondering about that little chipboard charm I made on the left, it is for a box or special envelope that needs to be made for this very thick card.

Frame Flip Album

-Another Stay-At-Home Retreat class for April

It's time for another mini-album. Well, not too mini as it measures 10"w x 7 1/2"H, but it's a fun and easy one to make. What I love about this one is that it stands on its own and with a flip of a tab stand you can display it closed or open ready to flip through. Plus, at any time you can add additional pages!

So above is what the end result is, and this is what we start with.

This was part of Kaisercraft's Beyond the Page collection, but is no longer available. I turned it horizontally to prop it up, took out the large panel in the center of the cover, and covered most of the slit in the back cover leaving about 1 1/8" in the center.

 Lets have a look at a couple more photos.

In this next view, if you look closely you can see that there are some pages between the MDF front and back covers.

Maybe in this section of the photo you can see it better.

The flowers are punched from the small and medium Retro Flower punch from EK Success with the tiny butterflies punched from a tiny punch from the same company, and the larger ones with Martha Stewart's Butterfly punch. The leafy branches are punched using Martha Stewart's Branch 2 punch. And Avocado Liquid Pearls used in the flower centers.

I have made a very quick video for you see the details of the framed flip album. You'll have to excuse a few verbal mistakes. There was no time to remake the video so I had to leave it as it is.

PTI MIM

It's been awhile since I've posted anything... Some wedding invitations are keeping me busy.

It's been awhile since I've played along with Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday over on Nichole's blog. The color challenges this week are sensational! Several gorgeous color palettes had me drooling since working with color on my own is my biggest struggle!

Since I had to come up with a simple Mother's Day card for a church group of young girls to recreate, I took the plunge on Fine Linen, Vintage Cream, Aqua Mist, Classic Kraft and Terracotta Tile.

Here is what I came up with:

I decided that the two-tone cameo was not to my liking and so I changed it to solid Kraft when making up the kits. Perhaps I prefer the two-tone, after all...  ;)

I did cheat and add a bit of green Copic to the leaves.

Scrapbook Parade Class - Mother's Day Gift Set

As Mother's Day is so very close, it's about time we had a class to create something for that very special event. So this is the gift set that I have planned for our class at Scrapbook Parade, Saturday, May 5th, from 1:00 to 4:00.

Pink Paislee`s London Market collection paper was used in this project. Gorgeous papers. On the Ciricut, I used the Heritage cartridge to cut out leaves and flourishes. This was such a fun project to make,and I look forward to the class.

Another Mother's Day card...

I had originally created a Sweet Blush card base since I had used the Sweet Blush Copic trio but found that the flowers were just too dark for it. I think I'm going to invent my own Sweet Blush Copic trio...

One thing I discovered from creating this card is that Copics do NOT work with Versamark ink. I know Memento is the best but I've been using some Brilliance lately and it seems to be alright, though not perfect. Versamark, however, is a big no-no. Just sayin'.

Series of Mother's Day Cards: 3 and PTI Make It Monday

This week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink/Nichole's blog, and the next Mother's Day card in my series, involves embossing with an impression plate. I would've been scared to try this technique if not for Erin Lincoln's demo!

A very quick and simple card!

It's difficult (but possible) to see the Tin Types impression plate I used on the front of the card.

I colored the rhinestones with Copics that matched the Ocean Tides and Berry Sorbet inks I used.

Series of Mother's Day Cards: 1

Since I was left with a bunch of card-less "Mother" tags after making this card, I set about making a bunch of Mother Day cards. Perhaps some more former co-workers of mine will be interested in some!

Here is the first:

I apologize for the "soft" looking flowers... You can't see much detail. They were simply stamped with Starlite Silver ink on Soft Stone cardstock and then cut out and attached to the Versamark stamped image on Summer Sunrise cardstock.

I've since added the phrase "lily of the valley" to the top of the card in Versamark.

Stamping Vacation: Lots of Paper Challenge

This month's Lots of Paper challenge at the Stamping Vacation blog asks us to go through our patterned paper stashes and find something with large flowers on it. Piece of cake!

I was really excited about this challenge because I knew that paper like this would be perfect for a Mother's Day card. I made this for a former co-worker to give to her mother.

I actually had to plan where I was cutting the patterned paper to fit my card so that I had some flowers that I could cut out. Using a craft knife, I cut out an entire flower plus just the petals of another flower. I curled them up a bit and used dimensional adhesive to reattach the largest flower. You can see the effect better here:

I added some Liquid Pearls at the very end.

I experimented quite a bit with different tag shapes before settling on this Grommet Tag by Spellbinders... I use these quite a lot... I love them!!

Stamping Vacation: White Space Challenge

Forgot to post this earlier! Lots of stuff going on today!

Stamping Vacation's White Space challenge this month is to make a one-layer card!

This card isn't completed--I'm awaiting a specific stamp for the center--but you can definitely get the idea.

I love how bright and cheery this is! The masked frame gives the illusion of multiple layers.

Every entry into a Stamping Vacation challenge is an entry for a gift certificate drawing: $25 to the place of your choice!!

This card also works for the current Papertrey Playhouse challenge: create a card for your favorite season. My favorite season is Autumn BUT I definitely enjoy Spring as well, so this card is Spring images with Fall colors! ;)

Paper Crafts Color Inspiration #2: 2nd Attempt

I really wasn't happy with how my 1st attempt at the Paper Crafts Color Inspiration #2 turned out and so I attempted another. I realized that I had yet to make my mother a birthday card and thought she might enjoy these colors.

I thought that Summer Sunrise was a good match to the peachy color until I realized it was more of a peachy color... Perhaps Melon Berry would've been better? Regardless, it is done.

Since the Doily Detail dies don't have "coordinating" stamps, I used a cut out as a mask to create a doily background on Soft Stone cardstock with Summer Sunrise (PTI) and Bundled Sage (Tim Holtz) inks.

The stamps used are from Tags for Spring (PTI).
