Attempt At A Wedding Card Turned Into A Birthday Card

Have you ever made a card that did not turn out how you expected it would? That is what happened with this card. Not that it was something to throw away, but it was not what I wanted for this wedding card.

After showing the card, I will list what I felt was wrong with the card.

First of all, I was excited to use the new Spellbinder Special Moments Die Set (S5-378). It might be a die set we will use at the studio for a future class. Anyway, I thought it would be ideal for a wedding card and this was a perfect time to play and experiment with the set.

It turned out to be too bright and look more like the colours for a little girl, rather than a weeding card. My first thought was that I should have made it all in white, or maybe not put on all that sparkle.... So though it may not be wedding-like in looks, it certainly would be a good birthday card for a little girl.

I do not know if you can tell in the photo, but there are two layers to the whit oval screen, and three for the floral flourish base.

Everything was coloured with Distress Oxide except for the bird.

It will be fun to see this die set used in different colour combinations and in different ways. I will be sure to post some of the experiments, and class sample posting if we end up using the die for a class.

Spellbinders Educator Class #10 - Four Seasons Tree

I had so much fun playing with these die sets, and know that you will too! These are the three cards that we will make in class-

This is a class where we will get only a taste of the possibilities with the sponsored dies/s for February. Yes, just a taste. Because there is the main die, a tree, and then there are four coordinating dies that go along with the tree. One for each season! Imagine what you can all create with this die set! You will receive the tree as the class die, and if you wish to have your own Spring Canopy (S4-841) you may order it from Stacey. Here are the other coordinating dies - Summer Canopy (S4-842), Autumn Canopy (S4-843), & Winter Canopy (S4-844).

We will create three 5" x 7" cards - a sympathy card in black & white with a layered tree, and on the other two have some fun with ink blending. The latter two would be great for adults and children alike!

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS: die cutting machine and only your die cutting plates this time, any of the dies that you get before class, craft mat, All-in-One tool, ink blending tools, white 3D Foam tape, double sided adhesive tape, liquid glue (matte if you have), scissors, 6 Q-Tips, and the following ink pads - OXIDE - Salty Ocean or Sky Blue, Peeled Paint, Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick, Fired Brick, DISTRESS - Gathered Twigs, & Bundled Sage. (I will have mine there if anyone needs one or two of these colours). Bring stamp cleaner and a cloth or baby wipes, too.

I thought that this die would make a good sympathy card, so I decided on black and white, and old school sympathy card. I used the Pierced Square die as the black mat behind the tree and hand wrote the sentiment.

This card is more cheerful, and shows what you can do with inks until you get a canopy die. I know some of you, like myself, will have to buy one die at a time. But that does not limit what you can do with the tree die. (However the bird house and birds are from the Spring Canopy die set. You could always used something else until you get any of the canopy dies)

I do love the little birds and birdhouse!

For this card we will use the Spring Canopy and colour all the elements of the canopy.

So cheerful! Makes me want spring to come right after Christmas! L.O.L.

So these are the tree cards we will make in class. I know that you will all have great fun creating with the Four Seasons Tree die and all the Canopies!

Class Photos - Spellbinders Fall Leaves with Oxide Inks

Sharing with you some more class photos. Everyone had so much fun in class creating these cards using Spellbinders "Fall Leaves" with Oxide Inks! Everyone was amazed at how the leaves would look when die cut from a piece of yardstick blended with beautiful Oxide colours.

These three cards were created with the focus on a piece of card stock that measured 6" x 12" and ink blended colours.

See how everyone's cards are a little different.

We layered four layers of die cut card stock for each of the die cut sentiments 'thankful' using the Xyron Sticker Maker.

Thank you ladies for such a fun class. It was a joy to see you create your cards in class. Hope that you all have fun creating more cards like this using your Spellbinders Dies.

Oxide Inks and Spellbinders

Just because the name of a die or stamp indicates one thing, does not mean it can't be used for something else. What am I talking about? Well, do you remember these cards? Well, the name for these dies are "Fall Leaves" and that is what I used it for..to make Fall leaves. But what if we used our imagination and create 'fantasy leaves' instead?

For this class we will have fu with colour and blend ink colours together on a 4" x 12" piece of yardstick, and create these three cards with it.

OXIDE LEAVES AND BACKGROUND - WITH SPELLBINDERS (S3-270)

Lets have some fun with colour and leaves! We will use the new Distress Oxide ink pads in this class (colours listed in the bring to class list below) as well the die set! There will also be be flicking of water and Wink of Stella! We will take advantage of the word dies in this set by layering and covering with Glossy Accents. This brings dimension to the die cut text and looks great! I will bring my inks to class in case you have not invested in them yet. But, I do recommend getting them because once you use them, you will want them. The best part is that you can take home your new die set and have loads of fun experimenting with these wonderful little leaves.

BRING TO CLASS: your die cutting machine with all the plates, die cut brush tool, Xyron 1 1/2" Sticker Maker (if you have - mine is still packed somewhere so I do not know if I will have it there for you) or liquid glue (matt glue if you have some), double sided adhesive tape, non-stick craft mat, Glossy Accents, Clear Wink of Stella, water in a little jar and a paint brush or Aqua Brush, Distress Oxide - Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint, Wild Honey, & Salty Ocean with your ink blending tools and sponges, 3D white foam squares/tape or dimensionals, mini-glue dots, and double sided adhesive tape.
