The Last Christmas Card

This is probably the last Christmas card that this blog will see for awhile. A friend of mine is particular about receiving handmade cards. ;)

 I used a dark, shimmery card base and linen vellum snow drifts as the back drop for this cute little Lawn Fawn snowman. Some Copic coloring and white heat embossing and voila! A satisfied friend. :)

Simple Thanks

A quick thank you card using up some scraps. I thought it might have a sort of country-ish feel but I'm a terrible judge.

I'm submitting this over at Lawnscaping for the texture challenge. It's been far too long since I've played with my Lawn Fawn (and Waltzingmouse!) stamps so I'm trying to dig them out.

Passport Wedding Invitations

I've been busy making up some wedding invites. Simple but still plenty of time.

The passport photo page is just blurred out information so I didn't include it. I'm no graphic designer, but I was still pleased with how the inside turned out.

The RSVP cards were postcard style. I got the template here (big timesaver!).

Lawnscaping

The current Lawnscaping challenge invites to be inspired by a fellow crafter. I was inspired by two of the Lawnscaping DT, Tamara and Vera (both pictures below).

I was inspired by the strips of Teeny Tiny Backdrops in Tamara's project (I love seeing stamped scrapbook pages!) and the simple layout of Vera's project.

Lawnscaping and Simon Says Stamp

It's such a shame to have so many stamps that you love and not to use them!

I decided it was high time to break out my Lawn Fawn stamps and put them to work with the current Lawnscaping challenge.

Here is how I interpreted the sketch (image below):

I white embossed Lawn Fawn's Teeny Tiny Backdrops on some New Leaf cardstock. The Polaroid was stamped on white and blue scraps, then trimmed and layered. Clouds and plane were stamped, trimmed and colored. That cute little heart is from Say Cheese. I added some silk ribbon and a button to finish it off.

I wanted the plane to seem like it was flying right off the card and so I put two different depths of dimensional adhesive on the back, which I attempted to photograph:

I made this a green card to go with Simon Says Stamp's current challenge: Bit o' Green. The sentiment should really say "Ireland, I would LOVE to visit!!" Could add plenty of countries to that list!

Incidentally, I got an innocent question from my 6-year-old son this morning...

"Mom, why do you make cards for nobody??"

Well, hmmmm...

I ended up telling him that I was just being prepared. One day, he may understand that making them is for ME.  :)

Baby Blanket Tags

I've been somewhat MIA and it's not due to me moving on from papercrafting.

I've been keeping busy organizing my house. My craft room has desperately cried for a makeover and while it is definitely in the works, I am also occupied with 3 little ones and other projects, so it's been rather slow-going.

After weeding through my linen closet, I decided it was time to retire the baby blankets. While I have a fabulous memory, I wanted to be sure that I would be able to remember who each blanket was for and from.

As my first baby, Taylor received the most baby blankets. After weeding out ones that weren't sentimental, I was left with these.

 As my first daughter, Averi also received several lovely baby blankets. Noticeably absent (to family!), is Averi's beloved "blankie" (adopted from Taylor, who received it from Omi) which is on vacation in Idaho.

My last child, Ella, didn't receive any baby blankets since we obviously had plenty left over from the other two children. Instead, Ella adopted one of Taylor's blankets and so I made a tag that indicated as much.

A quick Get Well card for a relative under the weather:

This was my first attempt at using paint on a card... You can see that it's still wet here! I def like the effect and will do a better job with it next time.

It's difficult to tell from the photo but the Lemon Tart cardstock is impressed with Mehndi Medallion.

Lawnscaping, Lily Pad Cards and Simon Says Stamp

Sneaking this in for Lawnscaping's Getting Texty challenge! The holly bling (Stickles) qualifies this for Lily Pad Cards and Simon Says Stamp is having an anything goes challenge!

I used my ink blending foam and Fresh Snow ink to splotch up my Book Print impression plate a bit. I used Post It notes to keep my card in place while running the sandwich through my Cuttlebug.

I stamped the sentiment using Smitty's ABCs onto a banner from Bannerific. The holly is from Bows and Holly.

Happy Halloween!

I combined the following challenges for this card: CAS-ual Fridays, Lawnscaping and For Your Inspiration (all graphics below).

I wanted it to look like the interior of a cave and used the sky colors from the FYI photo below. To make the colors look "sketchy" I used Q tips with my Distress Inks. I used my usual blending foam to ink the edges of the "cave" a misty white.

The Lawnscaping challenge is about embossing and the CAS-ual Friday challenge is paper-piecing a fall-themed card. All the white is heat embossing... I just love that spider! Sold me on the whole set.  ;) All the bats were paper-pieced into the cave scene. Googly eyes work irresistibly well with Lawn Fawn stamps!

The window (which works perfectly for this week's Wonderful Windows at Our Creative Corner) was created by cutting around the spiderwebs with a craft knife and slipping a Spellbinders die in. THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED!! I had to curve the die in a scary manner to slip it in and again when slipping it out! It seems not to have affected the die... Phew! It was still a heart-stopping couple of moments in my history of paper-crafting.  ;)

Lawnscaping Polka-Dots, Totally Hues #7 and CAS-ual Fridays Bling!

Hooray!!

Not only was I able to complete another Lawnscaping challenge entry to include Lawn Fawn stamps (first one here), I ticked off 2 other challenges that I adore!

The Lawnscaping challenge calls for polka-dots...

 ...the Totally Hues #7 colors are Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Lemon Tart and Spring Moss (delish!)...

 ...and CAS-ual Fridays invites us to Bring the Bling!

Here is what I finally came up with:

I colored the dress-form too darkly... I had intended a very pale pink. Not a big deal but now the paper-piecing isn't as distinctive. Anyway, I love this cute little card! I used a Copic to match my rhinestones with the Berry Sorbet. I masked off the frame and dress-form to stamp the green dots.

I didn't care for my first attempt:

The gray on the first card wasn't really ideal considering the Totally Hues colors. I also found the green background polka-dots to be too busy. My yellow polka-dots on the Polaroid frame didn't stamp well (I have issues with my Lemon Tart ink) and drive me nuts. ;)

Happy Birthday to You and a Gift from the Kids

I've been sitting on this post for awhile, waiting for my stepmother's birthday to pass so I could share this with you (I'm not sure if she checks this blog or not but decided to err on the side of caution).  ;)

I really wanted to put my Papertrey Ink calendar tools to work: Calendar Page die, Calendar Basics stamp set and the Mini Calendar pages. I also really wanted to use my Year of Flowers stamps but decided to let my kids participate by stamping some simple images for them to color instead...

You can tell the difference between the ones my 5-year-old colored as opposed to my 3-year-old. I'm hoping my stepmom will want to put this on her work desk or something. :)

I used my living room couch cushion as inspiration:

 I tried using Edgers along the sides and bottom to create a sort of shaped card. I heat embossed the damask with black powder. Everything else is pretty self-explanatory... ;)
