'Mother Dear' - A Previous Scrapbookers Class
For this Mothers Day card I thought to use the larger bird to represent "Mom" and the small bird to represent the giver of the card - the child. (No matter how old we get, we still are our Mom's child)
I used Spellbinders Labels One, Labels Four, and Bird shapes. The Labels One pieces I cut in half and spread them apart just enough so that they would be seen from behind the Labels Four cuts.
The next card is a combination card and mini album created from two 10 1/2" circles.The text print flowers are created from the pages of a child's storybook using Spellbinders Scalloped circles. Layer about 5 or 6 together, pierce in center with a paper piercer and insert a small/tiny brad. Taking each layer one at a time bunch up and crinkle up to the center. When each layer has been crinkled, spread the layers to allow placement of a pop-dot covered with glitter on one side onto the top of the brad.(I need to add a photo of the card closed so that you may see the flowers on the front).

I made this card for a co-worker who is leaving...
The sentiment was done using the Cricut Design Studio and the All Mixed Up cartridge. I should've used a different one but I always check them out alphabetically and I do love this cart!
The name is done using Tim Holtz spotted grungeboard alphas inked with his new Tumbled Glass distress ink.
The yellow/orange paper flowers are adhered using flower brads and the butterfly is from the dollar store, I believe (got it from my mom). The large rhinestones in the corners of the corkboard are Recollections (I believe) from Michael's.
I meant to add a glitter border on the corkboard using Scor-tape and Prisma glitter but I forgot. :(
The note is a Post-it adhered using Scor-tape and stamped with "Just a little something" from Papertrey's Everyday Button Bits. I underlined the "little" in red since the card is HUGE!
The pic below compares it with a sheet of 8-1/2 x 11" paper so you can see how big it is (about 12 x 12")!

Stef recently gave me this card... She had made another one earlier but ended up selling it to her mom! lolI love how she stamped the sentiment over the flower and the stitched leaves add just the right touch!

New Class Experiment 1
I'm working on ideas for a new set of classes for Scrapbookers as the next session draws close. The inspiration for these projects comes from Yvonne Hagane 's blog. She does wonderful things with Spellbinders, and I just love Spelbinders!
I have this beautiful paper from SEI -Juliette series-My Romeo, and knew it had to be a wedding card. Since this is just an experimental card and I can see areas that I would like to change, so I may re-do this card.
There are 6 pop-dotted layers, so this is a card that could not be mailed. I think I would like to ink distress the Spellbinders squares with gray, and perhaps using Spellbinders scalloped circles in a color matching the ribbon behind the little stamped circles.
Well, these are my thoughts on this project. You may see another posting in the future with my proposed changes. If you have any suggestions, make a comment, I'd love to read them.
New Class Experiment 2
Another Yvonne inspired project. This has 5 layers (I should have taken another picture from an angle so that you could see all the layers). I'm wondering if these ideas have too many steps involved to use in a classroom instructional setting. Perhaps if I just limit the class to 2 cards rather than the traditional 3 to 4 cards.
This one uses Copics to color the little stamp, and I know there will not be enough time for those that enroll to accomplish this part of the project. Am I willing to have these all colored for the students? They are small, so it could be done. But then I would not be exposing the students to that technique. I could refer them to the basic Copics class that Sandy holds regularly at Scrapbookers.
The other concern is all the little tiny pieces I have to die cut! It will take a long time to do that all in preparing the kits for the class. But, I do like this card, and it would stretch the Spellbinders imagination of those that sign up for the class. What do you think?
You're Sew Lovely
My lovely Lawn Fawn stamp set (Sew Lovely) came lovingly wrapped in green yarn and teal floss/twine. I vowed at the time to make a card using the scraps in honor of Lawn Fawn's budding company.
I also found a card sketch on the Skipping Stones Design blog. I don't think it's an actual "challenge" but I loved the sketch and so used it for my "Lawn Fawn card."
My card:
I used Papertrey Ink's Hawaiian Shores ink and cardstock, Ripe Avocado ink and cardstock and Stamper's Select cardstock to try and match the colors. I'm going to go back and round the white bottom corners as well.
The sentiment is heat embossed with clear powder. It's hard to see the needle in this picture but it is stamped using Brilliance Starlite Silver ink. You also can't really tell that the white is pop-dotted over the green mat.
All the images are stamped using Versamark Frost ink--gives it a cute little sparkle! Again, I'm going to go back and round the bottom white corners as well.
The interior is blank. It could be used for so many things! A birthday card, a thank you card, a thinking of you card, a friend card...
