Series of Masculine Thank You Cards: Card 4

This card in my masculine Thank You card series was inspired by Rachel D of What I Made Today. Her card here has the same partial/random zigzag stitching. I love it! Thanks, Rachel! (You should seriously check out what she's made throughout her blog!)

Sweet and simple. Well, sweet because it's simple... This is probably my favorite card of the series!

For those of you that live in or near Calgary, my next class is being held on Monday, December 13th, and there still are a couple of openings.So if you've signed up and wish for a friend to join you, there's room. This is the project we will be working on. This could be a gift set of a Christmas Tree ornament and matching card.

These snowflake ornaments are made using an empty ribbon spool, Spelbinders Fleur de Lis Pendant, and a scoring board. Lots of scoring and folding, and a lot of fun to watch the transformation as you put it together.Once you've made this Snowflake, you can make as many as you like for your tree or as gifts for family and friends in a variety of colors!

Series of Masculine Thank You Cards: Card 3

This was the 3rd masculine card I made for my coworker. I wasn't sure that this distress-y, roughened type card would suit her but she seemed okay with it.

A few creation details...

I drew the frame using a Copic Multiliner after measuring the corners with a pencil and ruler. Then I masked it off using Post-it Notes and used the small grid pattern stamp from the Mini Scrapbook Series: Library Ledger set. The bulk in the center contributed to the un-stamped spots of the frame but I thought it added to the rugged masculinity of the card.

The spiral notebook die-cut was stamped with the order form from It's Official. I roughened the edges a bit with my Tim Holtz Paper Distresser tool and then bent the corners up a bit. The sentiments are from the same stamp set.

I was going to add colored staples rather than these office-variety ones, but I kept having stapler malfunctions and I decided that the colors really didn't go well.

I made it using a failed circle embellishment from my last card, adding a few more layers for visual interest.

Series of Masculine Thank You Cards: Card 1

A coworker requested a set of masculine Thank You cards to keep on hand. Masculine cards are not the easiest thing for me to figure out but I came up with a few good ideas, some not so great. I still have a few ideas in my head that haven't been created yet, too!

Anyhow, here was my first card. I had already created the card base a while back and had no idea what to do with it. My new philosophy is to never impress a card base... Use layers!

Deciding that I needed more color, I added layered circles with distress-inked ribbon and a twine-tied button. It took several attempts to come up with the final project here.

This is probably the least favorite of the six cards I completed. Stop by tomorrow for Card #2!

Inspiration From A Long While Back

One of my favorite Blogs to visit regularly is Yvonne's Paper, Stamps and Ink. She does some absolutely amazing work! Last December, she made a Christmas Gift Box with 4 little square cards in it. I loved it so much I had to make my own. Everything went well, but, I never quite finished the box, because at the time I figured I had to remake the lid, as I felt it was a tiny bit too large. So it sat around waiting to have a new lid made. Last week I remembered it again! I pulled it out and realized that if I wanted to have it for Nov. 27th's craft sale, I had to use the lid I had started and complete it, or not put it in the craft sale at all. I chose to complete it.

The box measures 4 13/16" square. 

The cards are  4" square, making them multi-purpose in the fact that they can be used as a unique small card, or can be attached to a gift as a gift card (with or without the envelope). I didn't photograph the little square envelopes I made, but each one is color coordinated with the cards, and to accommodate the thickness of the cards, I made them 4 1/2" square.

I'm still not sure, after nearly a year, if I should have made this one with the colors I chose. At the time I thought it would be nice to have one of the cards in the set be a more masculine one.

I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard circles, Classic Scalloped circles, and Borderabilities Lattice, and Opal White & Gold Liquid Pearls.

Red, Green & Gold - White Poinsettia

IT'S DECEMBER 1st!  Can you believe that! It means that Christmas is just around the corner! Why is it that no matter how much you try to be better organized every year, it still kind of sneaks up on you?

Well to start of the the month, here is a CAS Shadow Box page in traditional Christmas Red, Green, Gold, and White.

On the green embossed paper purchased last year, I used Christmas Red Stickles and covered the berries on the page. Gold foil cardstock, gold Liquid Pearls, and a gold Gel Pen are the gold accents. The large white square is also a paper I purchased last year and it has  heat embossed snowflakes on it. For the green leaves of the white Poinsettias, I took apart one of the flowers, cut off each petal, and used my ink dauber with Vesra Magic Tea Leaves and an old Memento Bamboo Leaves ink pad to color them an make them look like leaves.
