Another Christmas Thank You

Another Christmas thank you card:

It's difficult to tell but I inked the edges a bit with Vintage Cream ink. A simple card but love the bling!

{Supplies--all Papertrey Ink unless noted}
  • Cardstock: Kraft, Rustic Cream
  • Stamps: Mistletoe & Holly, Signature Christmas
  • Ink: Pearlescent Ivy (Tsukineko), Scarlet Jewel, Vintage Cream
  • Dies: Stitched Mats - Rectangles (L'il Inkers)
  • Other Tools: rhinestones (dollar store)

A Christmas Thank You

I made up four of these babies based on a past retrosketch.  ;)

I didn't have time to participate at that time but have had the sketch as my desktop background since, hoping I'd be able to do something with it.

I stamped the wreaths in  2 different greens and then added some random berries. The sentiment is one of my most loved ones from the set since it is rare to find a specific Christmas thank you. The patterned paper is from a DCWV stack that I have.

The medallions were die cut and assembled. As a final touch, I rolled the edges in glue and then through some chunky white glitter.

I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.

Thanks for peeking!

PTI Make It Monday

I've been working up a storm in the craft room making up some Christmas thank you cards.

I love PTI's a la carte Make It Monday! They are so many wonderful techniques and ideas! I finally decided to make my first shaker card.

Next time, I would add another foam layer. It's a little squishy in there. ;)

I love this adorable little snowman!

Fun Chalkboard Cards

For the past few months I've noticed what seems to be a comeback for the  Vintage Chalkboarding style and techniques for not only restaurants and the like, but in printing invitations, cards, brochures, and so much more. Of course the handmade card industry picked up on this and has come up with a few techniques to apply in cardmaking and scrapbooking.

This is mainly using stamping, inking, and colouring techniques and after Googling Chalkboard art, I was so very excited to experiment with some  techniques. I had so much fun with it, I just had to have a class at Scrapbook Parade to share this fun style and some of the techniques I discovered.

So hear are the 4 cards we'll be making in class in early February.

There is a large card on the left (5 1/2" x 8 1/2"). Often people like to give larger cards than usual for Valentines, so I thought it would be fun to make a larger card. Lets have a closer look at it.

I suppose it could even be used for a wedding or anniversary.

Next is a congratulatory card with stars.

I think this one is my favorite one of the four. Next is a Birthday card and my 2nd favorite.

And lastly, a chalkboard "Thank You" card.

I had such a blast with this style of card. I now want a bunch of stamps to take this style a step further. So, are you inspired to try out this technique/style? Have fun with it.

For those of you taking the class in February, at Scrapbook Parade, here in Victoria, the list of what you need to bring is at the very end of this post.

Thanks for stopping by everyone, and happy crafting!

Year In Minis - February

Remember the Year In Minis series? The shelf? January's mini? Well here is the February mini!

Of course with Valentines day being in February, it became the theme for the little mini. Just posting the photos for class use.

To open the mini one must take off the ribbon band.

I have yet to take photos of the templates for the pages and pockets. They will be needed for the class in February, so I'll post them when it gets a little closer to the scheduled class.

This mini was a lot of fun to make. I came up with a way to cut, score & fold each page while creating 3 pockets per page with one piece of paper! So, check back again closer to February to get the templates.

For those of you taking the class at Scrapbook Parade here in Victoria, the list of what you need to bring is at the very end of this post.

Thank you for stopping by to have a look. Happy crafting everyone!

For this class you will each receive photos of templates, so be sure to leave your email address when you sign up so that I can email them to you. You can then print them and bring them along to class with you. I'll also try to post them in this post at a later time.

This is what you will need to bring to class:
-score pad
-bone folder
-paper trimmer
-scissors
-dbl sided adhesive including 1/8" scor tape
-quick dry glue
-corner rounder
-pencil
-ruler

Carta Bella WInter Fun II Layouts

I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I missed my children and grandchildren, but had a  wonderful time with my parents. Now it's back to work and planning for the months ahead.

A while back I posted what Scrapbook Parade calls a "Double Double Layout Class" project using Carta Bella's Winter Fun paper collection. Here is the second Dbl Dbl LO posting for a class to be held at the end of January. I've had this in my drafts for a while and almost forgot to post it!

I love the corduroy covered brads from UpsyDaisy (no longer in business) whose colours just happen to match Winter Fun colours!

The center piece was punched using We R Memories Lucky 8 Punch and then ink distressed with Tim Holtz Pumice Stone ink. I drew the journaling lines on with a black journaling micro pen and a ruler. I love how the tied floss around the photos turned out.

I used some letter rub-ons (from UsyDaisy now retired) for the title of this LO.

Here is the second LO.

I had a lot of fun working with all the hexagon pieces I cut out. I played with their arrangement on the LO for a bit. Some are popped up with dimensionals while others aren't. But, wherever there is a photo tucked in under, none are glued down there allowing enough space to tuck the photo in underneath the piece.

Well, thank you for stopping by to check out these Double Double layouts. Hope you are inspired to put together some of your winter fun photos from this year, or years past. I just have to say one more time that I just love the colours of this paper collection. Don't you?

For those of you taking the class at Scrapbook Parade here in Victoria, the things to bring to class list is at the very end of this post.

This is what you will need for class:

-Paper trimmer (make sure your blade is sharp)
-scissors
-a pair of old scissors to protect your good ones
-pencil & eraser
-ruler
-quick dry glue
-pop dots
-repositional tape/removable tape
-1/4″ double side tape and any other double side adhesive
-TH Pumice Stone ink
-ink blending tool
-a rub-on tool or popcicle stick

Merry Christmas!

An irresistible stamp that I picked up at Michael's...

Bird Song Photo Shadow Box

I just love working with this paper! I wish I could keep making more projects and layouts with it.

Hi everyone! Thank you for stopping by to have a peek at this latest Graphic 45 Bird Song project for a Scrapbook Parade class. For this project we'll be making a photo shadow box.

I used a few of the photos my youngest, 24 year old, daughter had from a professional photo shoot this last Fall. (A chance for me to brag...she's a fantastic and also creative welder) She tends to always wear black and quite often along with red, so I thought the colours she wears would work well with the Bird Song colours. Little did I realize that the green grass and other greenery would print so brightly. I worked with editing the photos the best I could and they are lighter than they originally printed.

So lets take a close-up tour and I'll make a few comments.
This is the theme section and is without a photo. With the exception of the Japanese calligraphy background, everything it popped u with dimensionals anywhere from one layer to four layers. I created the key hole cutting chipboard with the Tim Holtz die Hardware Findings and heat embossed it with god. While the embossing was still hot I imprinted it with a clear stamp to give it a metal embossed look.

Even though this image is blurry, maybe you can see the popped up layers a little better in this angle.

The left side has the smaller matted photos. I used Bazzill's Cajun cardstock along with one of their many blacks.

I used a combination of fussy cut flowers from one of the 8 x 8 papers and flowers from Prima in the embellishing of the tray shadow box.

All the fussy cut flowers are backed with foil adhesive sheets, which I just love! It makes fussy cutting soooo much easier! It's faster, and helps prevent tearing while you're cutting, plus after it's cut out the piece is nicely shapable. I'll have some close ups later that hopefully you can see a little of the shaping.

Lets go on to some more close ups, shall we.

It's too blurry to see the shaping and bending I did with the blue iris I fussy cut out here.

I had a lot of fun making this little scroll for the third box in the tray. I edged the paper with Memento Tuxedo Black and rolled the strip tightly, securing it with Scor Tape, and then tying  knot in the ribbon. It was then glued down with Scotch Quick Dry Glue. Love the stuff!

The white and red rosettes, I used an ink blending tool and Tim Holtz's Tea Dye ink to change the colours.

In this section, I created a fan, gold embossed the laser cut chipboard key, added a handmade black embroidery floss tassel, attached a fussy cut and shaed flower as well as some of the Prima rosettes.

The right side of the tray shadowbox has some larger photos. Again everything is layered with varying heights of dimensionals (pop dots), as well as some of the gorgeous fussy cut flowers backed with the foil adhesive.

If you look hard enough you may be able to see the bending and shaping of the flowers.

You will see on this side I included the word strips found on one of the 12 x 12 sheets used for this project. "Happiness" & "Love" are backed with black chipboard as they needed extra strength. but all hare layered with the Cajun and black cardstock and have been covered with Glossy Accents.

On the right side of the shadow box, you may have noticed a hinge (partial hinge actually - one side of it) with some pieces hanging from it. They are all backed with black chipboard for added strength and have been punched with a hole at the to and some with an additional hole at the bottom to either attach another of my handmade tassels or another chipboard piece.

I have some other personal metal embellishments that I will add later, after the class has been taught.
The next photo I was hoping would show better the bending of the foil backed fussy cut flowers, but again the photo is too blurry for that.

Thank you for stopping by to check out this latest project, and I hope you have been inspired to create your version of a Graphic 45 Bird Song photo shadow box.

Happy crafting!
