As Mother's Day is so very close, it's about time we had a class to create something for that very special event. So this is the gift set that I have planned for our class at Scrapbook Parade, Saturday, May 5th, from 1:00 to 4:00.
Here is the frame. And, no, this is not a photo of my Mom.
The frame from the right.
The frame from the left.
And here is a close up of the card.
Pink Paislee`s London Market collection paper was used in this project. Gorgeous papers. On the Ciricut, I used the Heritage cartridge to cut out leaves and flourishes. This was such a fun project to make, and I look forward to the class.
Thank you for stopping by to have a peek. Happy crafting everyone!

Scrapbook Parade Class - BoBunny Serenity Cards
It's amazing how many cards a person could get out of a 6 X 6 pad of designer paper. Carol asked me if I would be willing to teach a card class using the BoBunny Serenity 6 X 6. So the class at Scrapbook Parade will be on Tuesday, May 1st from 12:30 to 3:30, and we'll be making 6 cards! And here they are.
Here are the individual cards.
Hand cut top damask pattern that is repeated underneath as part of the pattern on the paper. Stamped Kaiser Craft Gypsy Sisters with Memento Tuxedo Black on Bazzill Burning Ember and framed it with Bazzill Licorice die cut with Spellbinders Labels Thirteen and Classic Ovals Large. Then added Rangers Enamel accents in black around the oval of the frame and the edges of the card.
I love using a fine border of black and it works very well with this card. I used Spellbinders Labels Thirteen, Petite Ovals Large & Small, and Fancy Tags Two.
Brown, beige and cream - letting the paper stand on it's own. I just added the chipboard frame with the brown backing stamped in white and the brown ribbon looped around the frame, tied with a double bow. To tie in the cream and beige with the bow I added the punched leaf branches in cream and attached two little beige flowers.
This card mixes and matches the papers of the pad with intricate cutting and layering of the flowers and flourishes as well as the different papers.
Because the paper in the pad is 6 X 6 and the height of the card is 7 inches, I to come up with another way to make it fit. Since there are three sheets per design, I was able to take a second sheet and add the scalloped strips ink distressed with Versa Magic Spanish Olive, covering where the scalloped strips end with the ribbon. I used Bazzil Olive and Golden Yukon cardstock to match the patterned paper. The stamped image is Hero Arts wood stamp 'Decorative Bamboo' matching the bamboo on the BoBunny Serenity paper. I punched holes near the bottom to feed the ribbon through.
The sixth, and final card, again has many popped up layers that make it a thick card, but very effective and dimensional. I was going to add a turquoise jewel on the banner peeking out of either side of the circle, but forgot. Will probably do so in class.
Thank you for taking a peek at the cards of this class. Happy crafting everyone!
Colour Create Challenge #95
Wow! Two weeks have gone by so fast, and it's time once more for another challenge at Colour Create Challenge! Kerry chose the colours rose pink, kraft, and white, with the additional option of masking, for our Colour Create Challenge #95. Kerry's fun inspirational photo is to the right.
The prize for this challenge is a candy package of some Prima paper & flowers, an embossing folder, some metal word strips and gingham bows.
This card certainly presented me with several challenges. The first was finding the right shade of pink. The second was the masking part of the challenge. I don't do it that often, and in looking for the right stamp for this project, the only one I liked was a rubber stamp! I decide to try anyway. Three tries later, I just decided to use the best one.
The third challenge was that I thought I had a certain pink ribbon that I planned to use. You guessed it, it was all used up. So I had to use a different ribbon that is not the right shade of pink. But here it is.

And by know you've noticed another challenge I had. I took three different photos, and each one was blurry. This is the best one of the lot. I almost feel like this project was jinxed or something. lol
It makes me wonder if I should give this card to the person I had intended for Mother's Day. But didn't Kerry pick a fun colour combo and challenge!
Thank you so much for stopping by to have a peek. Be sure to go to Colour Create to have a look at the other DT designs. Have a great day and happy crafting!

Boise - River Hike With Lerina
Hello dear blog friends! Today I'm posting another double page layout.
I got to use my new Cricut again for the second time. It was a Christmas present to myself. I love using the Cricut for the lettering of a layout title.
The photos are from a hike that my youngest daughter and I would make on occasion just SE of Boise, ID. We loved walking there, especially in the Spring and Fall. The scenery was amazing, and there is such diversity in the rock and ground there. Even though one might consider Boise to be in the middle of a desert, it can be quite beautiful and even green for a few months of the year.
My one regret with this layout is the circle in the upper right corner. I should have found a better position to include it in the layout.
Thank you for letting me share with you, and go down "Memory Lane". Happy Crafting!

Every Man in A Noble Place - A Boy Once Used to Be
I wanted to get 12 photos on a double page layout which ended up being a bit of a challenge for me because I never had worked with that many in one layout design. Why 12? I had come across some random photos of my youngest son, who recently turned 27, the age I was when he was born. Any way, these pics were mostly of him on his own, and actually covered his growing up from the day he was born through to around 15 years old (actually now that I'm seeing the photos again, I think it may through to age 16. I'll have to change the '5'). Any way, I felt they needed to be put together and tell a bit of his story.
For this layout I used MME On the Bright Side, Barn (used the other side with the chevron pattern) and Circle Branches backed with Bazzill Red Devil (red). I was thrilled to have found at the store Websters red chevron ribbon to go with it.
I had seen someone online make a similar slot to pull out a long tag, but I couldn't find where I found the idea to give proper credit. But, whoever made the project that I saw, I obviously loved the idea and used it on this layout.
Here's a close up of the tag pull-out.
I sometimes miss those days. The funny thing is at the time you don't think that you ever will. Thank you for coming by for a visit. We love having company come over to visit...hee hee.
Take care and happy crafting everyone!
Last Two Days of Scrapbook Parade Classes - 2 Part G45 Cards
The last two days have been filled with the 2 part Graphic 45 "The Olde Curiosity Shoppe" card classes. As an instructor I learned that I need to estimate the time for the classes better. Each day we took 4 hours rather than the 2 1/2 to 3 hours I thought they would be. However, even though not all of the cards were completed in class, it was still successful in that everyone learned something new, enjoyed the class atmosphere, and felt pleasure in the work accomplished. Here are a few photos to share from the classes.

Paper Smooches Sparks and CAS-ual Fridays 48
I had to squeeze this one in. I have several Paper Smooches sets that I need to break in!
I went with the colors of the Paper Smooches SPARKS inspiration photo (pictured below), as most people did, to create a one-layer card. The oranges and blues are opposite each other on the CAS-ual Fridays color wheel (graphic below).
I took the heart stamp from Whirligigs, inked it up with orange and used the kissing technique with an old Cornish Heritage Farms Woodgrain stamp (blue ink). Plenty of kissing possibilities with Whirligigs! I think that sweet little plaid looking circle pushed me over the edge to buying this.
I masked the heart circle and used Versamark ink to add a strip of some of the other circles.
After toying with several sentiment ideas, I finally used Word Salad.
Thanks for peeking!

Saturday's Class Photos - Monochromatic Cards I
Would have posted the class photos sooner if I could. Just wanted to share with you the fun we had in class, with thanks to Sandra for taking the pics for me as I had a full and busy class. A big thank you Sandra!
Here you see the class intently listening to me talk. You don't see my head because I had to crop it off due to the blurriness at the top of the photo.
Later in the class when everyone is busy working away.
Thank you for checking in on the fun we had. I look forward to our next Monochromatic Class!
Happy crafting Everyone!
Always Exciting to Be Chosen!
No matter how many times it happens, it's always exciting to have a design chosen and featured on a challenge blog. I usually don't make a habit of posting for each of my wins, but I'm such a fan of Mona Pendleton's CR84FN challenge blog, that I had to post my "Top Three" win!
Remember this?
It was chosen for the top three! You can view more close ups and read details here. And read the announcement at CR84FN here.
Thank you for sharing in my excitement and happy crafting everyone!
Thank You, Ashley Cannon Newell!
After settling a little into my new suite, here in Victoria last summer, I began to organize how I stored some of my crafting tools and supplies. Even though I love Spellbinders, in the past three years, I have rarely had the opportunity to purchase them. In the meantime my Spellbinder wish list is getting longer and longer. Those that I do have were outgrowing the original box I kept them in, so I decided one of those nice IKEA boxes would work. It did. But I do have a about four more new ones that I've been able to get here and there on sale, and one of which I won from a blog hop.
In the mean time some of my other supplies have grown too. When I lived in Calgary I had a large bedroom that I used as my craft room, but now, here in Victoria I must use about a third of my tiny living room, so space is precious. With growing craft stock, I still need to make some changes...some room.
I am one of the subscribers to Ashley Cannon Newell's blog, and when she posted a blog entry in February on how she organized her Dies, I had my answer to my dilemma.
This is how I started organizing my Spellbinders last June.
This IKEA Box measures 10 1/2" wide x 13 1/2" long x 7 1/2" high. My new box is a Michael's photo storage box that measures 7 3/4" wide x 11 1/4" long x 4 1/2" high. So it is smaller and less bulky. And look how much less space my Spellbinders now take! I love it!!
The index guide cards are 4" x 6". And, just like Ashley, I used my Dymo Labler on the tabs. Unlike Ashley, I purchased my magnetic sheets already at the size I need them. (through Carol at Scrapbook Parade who orders from Notions Marketing - here) They fit perfectly on the cards. And, because I teach classes where I'm often asked what the "number" is for that particular Spellbinder, I've added those on with a pen.
Here is one of the index guide cards.
I'm telling you that this is the way to go. It is so easy to browse through my dies now. And even though the box is much heavier with all those magnetic sheets, it's small enough to sit on my working area surface, close at hand, without getting in the way, and I don't have to bend over to the cubical I used to store the larger box in to get them.
If you're interested in the information that Ashley posted on her blog, you must see and read about it here.
Thank you for stopping by again. I'd love to hear how you store your dies, too. Happy crafting everyone!
