Determined to Walk in Her Mother's High Heels

This is incomplete as I haven't decided, yet, whether to use the blank space in the upper left for the title, or for another photo. But so much time has gone by since I made this LO in March, that I decided to post it any how and have you vote on how I should complete the LO. So, in your comment let me know how you feel I should complete it.

In this set of photos, Ella is somewhere between 18 months and two years old. I got such a kick out the images that Dana took.  It of course reminded me of my three girls when they were young. I think one of my sons even joined in on the effort of walking in high heels with one of the girls when they were quite young.

August Summer Fun Card Set - Scrapbook Parade Class

While walking past a group of papers in the store on my way to do something... they caught my eye and I thought "Summer Fun" with bright green, yellow, pinks, sky blue and purple! What else says fun and summer? Well the list could be quite long, but there's flowers of course, banners, pinwheels! And here they are!

This is a very simple one with a die cut flower over a darker paper. The button is under the die cut on the dark pink button giving it a different look. The stem and leaves are obviously hand drawn on using Lime Stickles. What you can't see, is the Star Dust Stickles around the die cut edges of the flower.

 Summer always has banners somewhere, whether for a circus, fair grounds, big picnic or BBQ, etc. So I had to come with something that had a lot of banners on it.

And of course, pinwheels! Part of a child's, or child at heart, delight. I smile every time I see one or think of one. This is the first attempt I made of a pinwheel, and it was so much fun. I think I'd like to make smaller ones next time. I also had fun with the Stickles on this one too. maybe a bit too much fun.

Lastly, you might recognize this card. You'll fine it at this previous post here. So many customers wanted to make this card, so I revised it slightly and changed the colours.

Quick & Easy File Folder Mini-Album - Scrapbook Parade Class

Yes, it is quick and easy! Once you've made one, you could probably make one in an afternoon! (if you don't get too elaborate, that is) It's all in how you fold the manila file folder.

Even though this is a class project for Scrapbook Parade, I'm hoping to make three of these. I'm calling them "Omi's World" to give to three sets of grandchildren; three in Calgary, Alberta, one (and a half  - hee hee) in Twin Falls, Idaho, and two in Phoenix, Arizona.

I thought it would be fun to take photos of my home, where I shop, how I take transit, where I work, and so on. Because they live far away, and we don't see each other often. They haven't seen my new home in Victoria, and so on. So, a small mini-album for each group, outlining "Omi's World" for them, I'm hoping will be something fun for them.

This class will be held in August, and I look forward to teaching it, and in completing these fun, easy, and quick albums. Here are the rest of the photos for you. You see here, the faux leather strap, with magnetic closure, undone and completely open from the back view.

Next is a collage, showing you all the different pages with pockets and the tags within them.

A person doesn't have to use this idea for a mini-album alone, you know. It could be a recipe book, passing on some of the great family recipes to be handed down, or shared with a friend. It could also be used for a collection of thoughts or quotes. What idea do you have for what you could use a file folder mini-album for? I'd really love to know!

I did take some photos on how to fold up the file folder. I'll post it toward the end of August, after we've had the class.

Flippin'

I found the concept and sentiments of Papertrey Ink's Flipping Out stamp set/dies irresistible and finally got some time to play with them.

I made up a set of cards, same layout but varied sentiments and flip flop patterns and colors, as a birthday gift. I didn't have time to photograph the ensemble before giving it away and so I whipped up one that is similar to my favorite from the bunch.

The flip flops are Harvest Gold but look darker in this picture. I thought that the Modern Wood Mats stamp looked like a fun similitude of water.

It is impossible to tell in the picture but I used a sparkly gel pen over the "flippin'."

A Happy Hello - CR84FN-58 & Freshly Made Sketches 42

I love it when when I can find a little time to participate in challenges! Especially when I get in a real creative zone! Today, I'm entering the challenges by CR84FN58 because I love the inspiring colour combo, one that challenges me, and Freshly Made Sketches 42 with their inspiring sketch.

I made this card to bring along on a visit to an elderly woman newly moved into a retirement home. She is also new to out congregation, and I wanted to give a little something when I go to see her next week. I hope she finds it to be a bright , cheerful, and happy greeting.

This card was also made up entirely out of scraps!

I would also like to mention that these beautiful carnation-like flowers I made after viewing Clare Buswell's tutorial here. Clare made it look so easy! I think that they will come together more quickly with repetition. Here is a close up of the carnations.

Hidden Mini-Album For Sept Scrapbook Parade Class

This class isn't scheduled at Scrapbook Parade until September, but as I'll be very busy I wanted to get this posted and out of the way.

This is two 8 X 8 inch canvases (which are perfect for the 8 x 8 pad) that have been hinged together back to back. By having them back to back there is a space about 4 1/2 inches square and deep enough to hold a six page stack-the-deck mini-album.

It would be fun to share with you the details on how zoned into this project I was and that I worked through the night without realizing the time until I noticed that it was beginning to get light outside! LOL. But that would take up to many words and too much of your time!

There are a lot of pics which I have kept to a minimum for you, and at the end you'll find a YouTube slideshow with many more details showing all the tags on each page. The tags that are to go inside each envelope page have not been made,yet, as the class participants can easily make them at home on their own time.

 In this somewhat fuzzy photo you can barely see some of the Glossy Accents that I used on the text and some of the flowers. I also used it on parts of the woman's hat and feathers, her belt, umbrella and shoes as well as the rose laying at the bottom of the paper. Very effective in real life.

I'm behind on cards I actually need to get done! This one uses Paper Smooches SPARKS Trends Watch challenge and Chupa's gorgeous sketch (graphics below).

A thank you card by someone with a sweet tooth! Yum!

Stamped/masked some goodies and used a bit of creative stitching to adhere vellum over top. Some selective inking gave me the sentiment I wanted. Looks much better IRL, of course. ;)

Dynamic Duos Challenge & Others

I just came across The Dynamic Duos Challenge blog through another blog that I follow (and I can't remember who's blog it was through) and was immediately excited with the challenge and the blog. So here I am entering a card for the first time for the Dyamic Duos Challenge 9 with the colours, Crumb Cake (I'm using Kraft), a neutral (I'm using white), and a colour of our own choice. I decided upon burgandy, or a red-violet if you choose to call it so.

Iwould also like to enter this card for the embossing challenge with Papercraft Star, and the no designer paper, also with Papercraft Star,  in celebration of beginning their third year! 

I'm also using some new stamps that arrived just a week or so before leaving for Calgary. Excitement is always there when you use something new for the first time, especially when you've been wishing for it for so long! Here is my design.

I'm a little disapointed that I adhered the burgandy strip on the left a little crooked. But these things happen and no card is perfect. I LOVE Flourishes and was so excited to use my new Flourishes Medallion Motif stamp. I stamped it with Versa Mark and heat embossed it with clear on the kraft cardstock, and with white on the burgandy cardstock. I love "fussy" cutting as my class participants call it. I used to call it detail cutting, but have adopted the new label.

The metal embellishment was find at one of the Calgary Michael's. I never came across them here in Victoria, but I haven't been there for a while and it could be something new. But my friend and I where so excited about all the new metal embellishments we found. This one goes so very well with the Medallion Motif and I just added a KaiserCraft Latte Pearl Brad in the center. And of course, as my blog followers and students of my classes know, I just love using Liquid Pearls, so this card had to have them too. I used Platinum Pearl for this card.

Make A Wish - FMS 41

Just under the gun! I hade this made yesterday, but forgot to post it right away. I got the photo onto the blog before linking and writing with just 2 miutes to spare!! I've never been that close before.

Anyway, while in Calgary visiting with Dana and the grandchildren, we went shoppping for bedroom bedding and window coverings for Dana's room. While shopping, we both saw a bedroom set that Dana's youngest sister, my youngest daughter, would love. Dana took a photo of it right there and sent to Lerina's phone. A while later, Lerina texted us back with something like "Cool!"

With Lerina's 24th birthday on the 21st, I decided to use that bedroom set as inspiration. Lerina's favorite colour is black and then any colour that goes with it. Though I think red with black is her favorite combo.  So here is the card.

I'm a little unhapy with this photo because the flash went off. But since I had made this card yesterday, and sent it off this morning, I no longer have the card to retake photos.

I used the sketch, as closley as I could, from Freshly Made Sketches 41, and here is the image of the bedroom set I found online.

With the ribbon only being 1 1/2" wide, I was not able to keep as closely to the sketch as I wanted, because I had to use the lacing from the cushion on the card. That is something else that Lerina likes.
Here is the closeup of just the cushion.

I used white eyelets on the plaid ribbon and uses a black 1/8 inch ribbon to feed through them.
